Stan badań nad klasztorem kanoników regularnych w Żaganiu w średniowieczu

Opactwo klasztoru kanonikow regularnych reguły świętego Augustyna w Żaganiu powstało w 1284 r. w wyniku translacji z opactwa, a przedtem prepozytury ufundowanej przez Henryka Brodatego z Nowogrodu Bobrzańskiego. Początkowo zakonnicy związani z klasztorem NMP na Piasku we Wrocławiu drugiej połowie XII w. uzyskali niezależność od macierzystej jednostki. Niektóre z aspektow działalności kanonikow z Żagania zostało już w historiografii zbadane. Najlepiej poznaną osobą z tego konwentu jest autor kroniki klasztornej Ludolf.
