The project of Giacomo Amato for the Statella palace of the Marquis of Spaccaforno in Palermo. The essay documents the project of architectural reconfiguration of Statella palace in Palermo, a building of the sixteenth century, transformed by Giacomo Amato for prestigious aristocratic clients. The examination of archival documents, with the analysis of the original drawings, help to clarify the building history, the stages of the construction and especially the role of the architect in the process of reconfiguration of the building. Concrete arch bridges built by lattice cantilevers

In this paper a study about concrete arch bridges built by lattice cantilevers is presented. Lattice cantilevers are partial structures composed of deck, arch, piers and provisional steel diagonals, organized as reticular cantilever girders, in order to build arch bridges without the use of centrings, supports or temporary towers. Characteristics of this construction methodology with its variants are explained together with their implications in the erection sequence. This article seeks to discuss some of the conclusions V. Llombart’s study arrives at about the figure and the meaning of the count of Campomanes in the context of absolutism during the second half of the XVIIIth century. More specifically, it calls in question the idea of an action led by a reforming possibilism, half way between the non-enlightenment and the revolution, which would permit, besides, to establish a doubtful line of continuity among some of the reforms of the second half of the century and the plans of Cádiz. It proposes, on the contrary, to reintroduce an interpretative logic not so attached to the schemes of “market” and “state”.

A partire da un corpus di canti popolari registrati a Milena (CL), si offre un quadro della dialettica tra oralità e scrittura, fra letteratura dialettale e poesia popolare, che caratterizza, in generale, i repertori etno-musicali dell’Isola. Talora la formalizzazione blocca questo percorso di continua rigenerazione testuale, ma altre volte è possibile confrontare varianti che hanno autori individuabili o contesti socio-economici ricostruibili.

In the last years the building firm underwent real boom for investiments and workers but not for safety measures. In the building sector there is a great accidents risks for falls from the top. The aim of present study is to analyze trend of accidents at work in building yards according to INAIL DATA and we will identify causes and risks then we will correlate these risks with frequent law defaults that we noticed in the province of Palermo. At the end we will value possible preventive measures to avoid this phenomenon. Changes in surface stress at the liquid/solid interface measured with a microcantilever

Abstract The bending of microfabricated silicon nitride cantilevers was used to determine surface stress changes at solid–liquid interfaces. The radius of curvature of the bent cantilever is directly proportional to changes in the differential surface stress between its opposite sides. To demonstrate the possibilities and limitations of the technique, cantilevers coated on both sides with gold and densely packed monolayers of different thiols were put in a constant flow of aqueous electrolyte solution and the deflection was measured using a optical lever technique.
