Modelling hydrolysis: Simultaneous versus sequential biodegradation of the hydrolysable fractions
2018
Hydrolysis is considered the limiting step during solid waste anaerobic digestion (including co-digestion of sludge and biosolids). Mechanisms of hydrolysis are mechanistically not well understood with detrimental impact on model predictive capability. The common approach to multiple substrates is to consider simultaneous degradation of the substrates. This may not have the capacity to separate the different kinetics. Sequential degradation of substrates is theoretically supported by microbial capacity and the composite nature of substrates (bioaccessibility concept). However, this has not been experimentally assessed. Sequential chemical fractionation has been successfully used to define i…
Influence of Temperature, Solvent and pH on the Selective Extraction of Phenolic Compounds from Tiger Nuts by-Products: Triple-TOF-LC-MS-MS Character…

Do Women and Men over 70 Years Old Similarly Benefit from a One-Year Training Program?
2010
Background and Aims : Exercise capacity declines with age and is improved with exercise training. The aim of this study was to characterize the effects of a one-year combined exercise training in subjects over 70 years old, and to examine the eventual differences obtained between men and women. Methods : After baseline evaluation, 24 subjects (12 men and 12 women) over 70 years old underwent moderate intensity training with aerobic and resistance exercises, 3 hours a week over one year. Workload, oxygen uptake (VO2) and heart rate were measured during a symptom-limited exercise test. The distance walked in 6 minutes (6-MWT) was also registered, and the maximal strength was measured on knee …

Vulnérabilité territoriale et résiliences: résistances et capacités adaptatives face aux aléas climatiques
2013
Namely inherited by its double "reactive" and "proactive" dimensioning, the multisacalar status of the resilience concept is illustrated here by the storm Xynthia, which occured in France on February 2010. Through designing this disaster as a structural traduction of townplanning dysfunction, resilience appears to formalize a paradigmatic change of natural risk treatment, namely applied to urban development strategies.

Competence as a Career Opportunity's Guarantor
2015

The aim of the research is to investigate the essence of the notion ”competence” and the differences in the usage of the career's terminology in semantic, methodological and pragmatic areas in academic theories of the second part of the 20 century; to work out evaluation criteria by comparing the succession of the notions capacity. The research is based on the Latvian and international sources of scientific literature – books, magazines, sources in digital form, and etc. A personality was investigated holistically ( Džarviss (Jarvis, 2010); Devis (Dove, 1976); Kross (C…
BETWEEN SUCCESS AND UNSUCCESS IN ABSORBING EU FUNDS - POLAND VS. ROMANIA
2015
Component of the cohesion policy promoted by the European Commission, European grant financing represents an inexpensive and important resource for the social and economic recovery of the member states, offering the prospect for the budgetary sustainability, encouraging public and private investments and thereby reducing the development gaps both at national and international level. In the present study, through the comparative analysis between Romania and Poland in the field of EU funds absorption, we intend to identify the weaknesses and the strengths of each of the two member states, helping to formulate a set of recommendations that our country should follow in order to attract funds re…
Factors Influencing the Usage Behavior of Digitalized Innovation Environments in Companies : A Qualitative in-Depth Analysis
2021
Digital Innovation Environments (DIE) as an umbrella term for facilities such as FabLabs, Makerspaces and Innovation Laboratories are already well known in the private and academic sectors. We focus on exploring the business aspects of DIEs and their role in digital transformation and creation of new opportunities for companies to increase their knowledge transfer and innovation capabilities. This research is dedicated to factors influencing the usage behavior of company employees of a DIE. From seven guided interviews, a total of 27 influencing factors in seven topics were identified through successive in-depth analysis and criterion-guided interpretation. These factors show the complexity…
Kehitysvammaisten aikuisten kestävyyskunnon taso ja muutos ikääntyessä : kahden kävelytestin vertaaminen
2015
Eveliina Keinonen (2015).
