Demokracja a kapitalizm. Przyczynek do analizy z perspektywy ekonomii politycznej

Celem artykułu jest analiza stosunków między demokracją a kapitalizmem w ujęciu ekonomii politycznej. Przyjęto w nim założenie, że demokracja stanowi formę organizacji życia politycznego, zaś kapitalizm życia ekonomicznego. W pierwszej części przedstawiono krytykę liberalizmu hegemona współczesnej filozofii politycznej z punktu widzenia myśli Karola Marksa. W drugiej opisano bankructwo optymistycznych złudzeń o postępie moralnym. Artykuł kończy się wspomnieniem kategorii „godnego społeczeństwa”, stworzonej przez Johna Kennetha Galbraitha.
The Calatrava model: reflections on resilience and urban plasticity

ABSTRACTThe article introduces a critical reflection on the effects that the version of cultural capitalism based on large events and architectural symbols has on the resilience of cities when used as an engine, and not as a complement to the policies of urban transformation. While state-owned enterprises (SOEs) used to be considered obsolete tools for governmental intervention in the economy, in recent years governmental intervention in the business sector has re-emerged as a topic of debate. However, scholarship on the changes in and the modernisation of the SOE model is limited. In this article, we examine how the Finnish state’s ownership policy adapted to the requirements of economic globalisation between the 1970s and the 2010s. We show that the attitude towards globalisation was pragmatic and aimed at safeguarding the competitiveness of domestic companies. Peer interaction and pioneering organizational form adoption : A tale of the first two for-profit stock exchanges

Building on a historical case study on the first two stock exchanges to adopt the now globally dominant for-profit organizational form, the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 1993 and the Helsinki Stock Exchange in 1995, we argue that interaction among socially proximate peers contributes to pioneering organizational form adoption within an industry, particularly when such forms are introduced by established organizations. Peer interaction can induce a search for technically efficient organizational forms through the sharing of collective experiences, the establishment of collective assumptions, and a joint search for solutions.
