Energy Communities (EC) are a promising solution to reduce both the carbon footprint and the impact of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) on the distribution grid. Based on a simple energy sharing principle, EC can be decisive in the next future energy transition of some problematic territories, like small islands not supplied by the main power grid. The controller's role in environmental management control

This paper explores the role of the management controller in environmental management control (EMC) by means of a longitudinal case study of a French company with a pioneering approach to EMC. The results show that the management controller has four key roles (carbon auditor, business partner, euro-carbon translator, and agent of change) and illustrate the characteristics of the controller in this new domain (image, power of influence, and territory). Several theoretical, managerial, and methodological lessons may be learned from this case study.

Tässä hankkeessa laskettiin Jyväskylän yliopiston ylioppilaskunnan (JYY) merkittävimpien toimintojen vuoden 2021 hiili- ja luontojalanjälki eli ilmasto- ja luontohaitat. Menetelmä perustuu pääosin muun muassa EXIOBASE ja LC-IMPACT-tietokantoihin, joiden avulla pystytään talouskirjanpitoon perustuen selvittämään eri tuotteiden ja palveluiden aiheuttamat ilmasto- ja luontohaitat sekä niiden maantieteelliset sijainnit. This paper aimed to analyse and compare the environmental and energy sustainability of two orchards (peach versus kiwifruit) located in Southern Italy using Life Cycle Thinking. To this end, anthropogenic energy, CO2 emissions, biogenic energy and carbon gains were also considered through Life Cycle Assessment methodology and Energy Analysis. The C–CO2 balance was calculated as the difference between total C–CO2 stored in soil and trees, at the end of their life cycles, and orchards Carbon Footprint (CF). The production and distribution of food are among the hot topics debated in the context of sustainable development. Short food supply chains (SFSCs) are now widely believed to be more sustainable in comparison to mass food delivery systems. To date, very little quantitative evidence exists on the impacts of various types of food supply chains.
