Internal structures and dating of complex zircons from Meissen Massif monzonites, Saxony
1999
Abstract U–Pb zircon ages were determined for accessory zircons from two monzonites from the Meissen Massif (Northern Bohemian Massif, Germany) by SHRIMP ion microprobe. BSE and CL imaging revealed that the monzonite zircons, showing oscillatory growth zoning, often contain inherited cores. Raman microprobe measurements showed that zoned rims (U 277–1426 ppm, Th 144–910 ppm) are slightly disordered to moderately metamict whereas cores have a wide spectrum of structural states, from well-crystallized to highly metamict. The radionuclide (U+Th) content of cores varies from a few hundred to more than 20,000 ppm. SHRIMP ion probe measurements on zoned rims, interpreted as zircon growth during c…
New species of the rugose coral genus Lithostrotion Fleming in the upper Viséan from the Azrou-Khenifra Basin (Morocco)
2020
The new species Lithostrotion termieri Rodríguez & Somerville is described. It shows very large corallites of the rugose genus Lithostrotion Fleming. It has been recorded up to now only in upper Viséan rocks from the type locality, the Akrab ridge, Morocco also called Tizi Ben Zizouit by Termier & Termier (1950), who identified it as Lonsdaleia floriformis, and south-east from Tabainout, also from the Azrou-Khenifra Basin.
SIGNIFICANCE FOR INTERNATIONAL CORRELATION OF THE PERAPERTÚ FORMATION IN NORTHERN PALENCIA, CANTABRIAN MOUNTAINS. TECTONIC/STRATIGRAPHIC CONTEXT AND …
2021
Small ammonoid assemblages are recorded from the Perapertú Formation in northern Palencia. This is a mudstone unit with local platform limestones characterised by carbonate debris flows on the limestone margins. This unit, of Late Bashkirian to Early Moscovian age, participates in a series of southwards verging thrust slicesNorth of a major fault zone which originated as the head (leading edge) of a large thrust sheet with an internal deformation consisting of thrust slices and at least one nappe structure. Opposed vergencies at the head of this major thrust sheet (Carrionas Thrust Front) and the Ruesga Fault which locally modifies its trace, mark the position where the northern branch of t…
Relazioni tra contenuto di materia organica, carbonio organico e granulometria nei sedimenti di aree di transizione
2008
To describe the geochemical features of the sediments in nine sicilian coastal lakes, 78 samples of surface sediments were collected in July 2005. Analyses of Nitrogen, Total Organic Carbon, Organic Matter, Carbonates and Grainsize were performed. A better correlation between the Organic Matter, evaluated through the Sequential-LOI, and TOC was found at 350 °C, rather than at 450 °C. Statistical analysis confirmed the similarities of the trends of TOC and LOI350 in the samples pooled according to the dominant grainsize, with the highest values associated to the medium sand fraction. The differences among the median values of the groups were significant (ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis; P<0.001). The …

Biomass Waste Processing into Artificial Humic Substances
2021
Abstract To address the biomass waste processing problem and transform it into refractory forms of carbon, recently suggested hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) of biomass in alkaline environment can be considered as a prospective and climate neutral approach. Biomass HTC provides possibilities to obtain form of biochar (hydrochar) and artificial humic substances, however the conditions of the HTC have not been much studied. Optimization by Response Surface Methodology of the HTC using microwave treatment with three experimental variables (treatment temperature, length of microwave treatment, amount of biomass per volume) provides the possibility to significantly increase the yield of humic s…
Salts of 5-amino-2-sulfonamide-1,3,4-thiadiazole, a structural and analog of acetazolamide, show interesting carbonic anhydrase inhibitory properties…
2015
Three salts of 5-amino-2-sulfonamide-1,3,4-thiadiazole (Hats) were prepared and characterized by physico-chemical methods. The p-toluensulfonate, the methylsulfonate, and the chlorhydrate monohydrate salts of Hats were evaluated as carbonic anhydrase (CA, EC 4.2.1.1) inhibitors (CAIs) and as anticonvulsants and diuretics, since many CAIs are clinically used as pharmacological agents. The three Hats salts exhibited diuretic and anticonvulsant activities with little neurotoxicity. The human (h) isoforms hCA I, II, IV, VII, IX, and XII were inhibited in their micromolar range by these salts, whereas pathogenic beta and gamma CAs showed similar, weak inhibitory profiles.
