Summary: To investigate the anti-ischemic capability of the angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor captopril, 10 patients with acute myocardial ischemia (angina pectoris >1 h, ST-segment depression ±0.1 mV, no rise in creatine phosphokinase) received 25 mg captopril sublingually after being treated with an intravenous infusion of nitroglycerin (3 mg/h) and heparin (1200 IU/h) for 1 hour. A control group of 10 patients received placebo instead of captopril. Results showed a decrease of the initial ST-segment depression from 0.25±0.04 to 0.2±0.03 mV (p>0.01) with nitroglycerin for the captopril group and from 0.26±0.05 to 0.21±0.05 mV (p>0.01) for the control group. Methods and Results— From the PMSI (Program de Medicalisation des Systèmes d’informatique) database, data from 277 303 consecutive acute myocardial infarction patients hospitalized from January 1, 2005, to December 31, 2009, were analyzed. This study investigated the timing of the trigger pull in relation to the cardiac cycle during air rifle shooting. This report describes a 26-year-old patient with hemangiosarcoma of the heart and summarizes the clinicopathological features in previous reports of patients with cardiac angiosarcoma. The patient was admitted to our hospital because of a syncope and one episode of nocturnal dyspnea and hemoptysis. In his history he complained of progressive weakness and loss of weight over the past 2 months. Echocardiography and computed tomography of the chest showed inhomogeneous masses in the pericardial cavity completely surrounding the heart and involving the ascending aorta and the superior vena cava.
