Comparison of antiplatelet effects of aspirin, ticlopidine, or their combination after stent implantation.

Background —This study was performed to analyze the influence of either aspirin, ticlopidine, or their combination on platelet activation and aggregation parameters after stent implantation. Methods and Results —Sixty-one patients with successful implantation of a single Palmaz-Schatz stent in a native coronary artery were randomly assigned to either group A (aspirin 300 mg/d+ticlopidine 2×250 mg/d), group B (ticlopidine 2×250 mg/d), or group C (aspirin 300 mg/d). The aim of this study is to assess the long-term effect of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) transplantation in a rat model of chronic myocardial infarction (MI) in comparison with the effect of bone marrow mononuclear cells (BM-MNC) transplant. Five weeks after induction of MI, rats were allocated to receive intramyocardial injection of 106 GFP-expressing cells (BM-MNC or MSC) or medium as control. Abstract —Oxidized low density lipoproteins (Ox-LDLs) are increasingly thought to be a key element in atherogenesis. We have previously reported that serum albumin has important antioxidant properties and that a reduced synthesis of albumin may represent a crucial point in the overall antioxidant defense. In the present work, we aimed at determining whether Ox-LDL could modulate albumin synthesis in cultured human hepatocytes (HepG2 cells). Acute aortic dissection

An acute aortic syndrome with simultaneous presence of a penetrating aortic ulcer, an intramural haematoma, a thoracic aortic dissection and an abdominal aortic aneurysm rupture has not previously been reported. Herein, we describe our experience with a patient treated by endovascular means with an 8-year follow-up.

In hypertensive renal disease in children, several risk factors influence the development and the rate of progression of renal damage, including blood pressure levels, proteinuria, lipid disorders, and genetic differences. The impact of blood pressure on renal structures, the most important of the factors, depends not only on blood pressure levels, but also on the persistence of the blood pressure levels over time, mainly during the hours when the patient is resting or sleeping.
