Valor pronóstico de la troponina T en pacientes hospitalizados con angina o infarto sin elevación del segmento ST

2003

Introduction and objectives. Cardiac troponins are highly specific and sensitive for detecting minimal myocardial damage. The aim of our study was to determine the prognostic value of troponinT levels in patients hospitalized for suspected angina or myocardial infarction without STsegment elevation. Patients and method. We recorded the frequency of death, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, or need for coronary revascularization in the three months after the onset of symptoms in 346 consecutive patients admitted for suspected acute coronary syndrome, excluding those who developed myocardial infarction with persistent ST-segment elevation. Results. Serum troponin T levels were ≥ 0.1 …

0436: Diagnostic value of serial ultrasensible troponin I measurements for acute coronary syndrome identification in cardiac intensive care unit

2014

Introduction ACS diagnosis relies on the detection of an increase or a decrease in troponin levels (delta-TnI) that might be estimated as absolute (delta-TnI-abs) or relative value (delta-TnI-rel). The discriminative cut-off value of delta-TnI to identify ACS in patients admitted in ICU is a matter of debate. Methods We aimed to determine in a monocentric registry the cut-off value of delta-TnI to identify ACS among patients admitted in ICU with a suspicion of acute myocardial ischemia. All the patients had 2 measurements of ultrasensible cTnI (ADVIA Centaur Siemens®; 99th percentile: 0,04 μg/L). Patients were classified in 4 groups: 1) ACS (NSTEMI, UA), 2) Cardiac non coronary diseases (he…

P4571PFA-100, a test of platelet adhesion/aggregation, predicts cardiovascular events after an acute coronary syndrome and can help in the decision-m…

2019

Abstract Background The dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) duration is a matter of great interest among cardiologists. Because of the conflicting evidences and the necessity to balance the reduction in major cardiac events (MACE) occurrence and the risk of major bleedings after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS), there is a general consensus on prolonging DAPT on an individual basis. There is less consensus on which parameters are to be evaluated. Nowadays tests of platelet reactivity are not included in the decision-making. Few data are available on the prognostic value of aspirin response tests that are sensitive to other mediators of platelet adhesion and aggregation in vivo under flow condi…

Retinal optical coherence tomography angiography as a biomarker of acute kidney injury after acute coronary syndrome

2018

Background Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is frequent and associated with long-term renal impairment and mortality. Retinal vessel density (RVD) measured by OCT-Angiography could reflect the global cardiovascular burden of ACS patients and thus provide a fast and non-invasive assessment of the systemic microcirculation, that may be involved in CIN occurrence. Methods Between October 2016 and March 2017, 452 ACS patients were admitted in our coronary care unit. Retinal OCT-A was performed within two days after PCI. Patients were divided in two groups, according to Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurrence (KDIGO …

Low-dose rivaroxaban plus aspirin in older patients with peripheral artery disease undergoing acute limb revascularization: insights from the VOYAGER…

2021

Abstract Aims In this secondary analysis of the VOYAGER trial, rivaroxaban 2.5 mg twice/day plus aspirin 100 mg/day was assessed in older adults. Advanced age is associated with elevated bleeding risk and unfavourable net benefit for dual antiplatelet therapy in chronic coronary artery disease. The risk–benefit of low-dose rivaroxaban in patients ≥75 years with peripheral artery disease (PAD) after lower extremity revascularization (LER) has not been described. Methods and results The primary endpoint was a composite of acute limb ischaemia, major amputation, myocardial infarction, ischaemic stroke, or cardiovascular death. The principal safety outcome was thrombolysis in myocardial infarct…

Three-dimensional analysis of tumour vascular corrosion casts using stereoimaging and micro-computed tomography

2009

Objective: In order to perform effective translational research for cancer therapy, we need to employ preclinical models which reflect the clinical situation. The purpose of this study was to quantitatively compare the vascular architecture of human colorectal cancer and experimental tumour models to determine the suitability of animal models for vascular studies and antivascular therapy. Methods: In this study we investigated the three-dimensional properties of colonic tumour vasculature in both human clinical tissues (normal mucosa control [n = 20], carcinoma [n = 20] and adenoma In = 61) and murine colorectal xenografts (LS147T [n = 6] and SW1222 [n = 6]). B Lymphocyte-Deficiency in Mice Causes Vascular Dysfunction by Inducing Neutrophilia

2021

B lymphocytes have been implicated in the development of insulin resistance, atherosclerosis and certain types of hypertension. In contrast to these studies, which were performed under pathological conditions, the present study provides evidence for the protective effect of B lymphocytes in maintaining vascular homeostasis under physiological conditions. In young mice not exposed to any known risk factors, the lack of B cells led to massive endothelial dysfunction. The vascular dysfunction in B cell-deficient mice was associated with an increased number of neutrophils in the circulating blood. Neutrophil depletion in B cell-deficient mice resulted in the complete normalization of vascular f…

May Measurement Month 2018: an analysis of blood pressure screening results from Spain.

2020

Este artículo se encuentra disponible en la siguiente URL: https://academic.oup.com/eurheartjsupp/article/22/Supplement_H/H119/5898732 En este artículo también participan: Fernando Martínez, Blanca Carreras, Bettina de Berardinis, Thomas Beaney, Anca Chis Ster, Neil R. Poulter, Xin Xia y Luis M. Ruilope. Elevated blood pressure (BP) is the single most important contributing risk factor to the global disease burden, leading to over 10 million deaths each year. In Spain, hypertension (HTN) affects around 20% of the adult population and remains the greatest attributable cause of cardiovascular mortality. May Measurement Month (MMM) is a worldwide initiative aimed at increasing awareness of HTN…
