Making a difference in women's lives? : case study of women's empowerment programme in Rajasthan

2015

The study is placed in an Indian NGO working for women’s empowerment by the means of informal education, vocational trainings and awareness-raising activities. The goal is to find out to what extent this NGO managed to reach gender justice in practice. The evaluation answers to the questions of what the understanding of gender equality and empowerment was among the people working for the NGO, what the conditions of the chosen participants were and how they influenced participation and then how successful the NGO was in terms of changing gender division of labour and women’s cultural value. The long and winding road of enterprise architecture implementation in the Finnish public sector

2018

This thesis examines the implementation of enterprise architecture (EA) in the Finnish public sector. EA is a systematic approach for analysing, visualising, developing and governing the functions and structures of organisations. It describes how organisations businesses, information and systems function as a whole. Research and practice have shown the implementation of EA is challenging and slow to advance. Finland provides a prolific area for research since the use of EA is mandatory in public sector, which is rare amongst countries taking a whole-of-government EA approach. In order to research EA as a method for systemic change, a suitable theoretical framing was necessary. The context, …

Haluttu, menestyvä ja laadukas seura : tapaustutkimus Jyväskylän Naisvoimistelijoiden seuratoiminnan muutoksesta

2017

Dangerous relationships : biases in freshwater bioassessment based on observed to expected ratios

2018

Copyright by the Ecological Society of America The ecological assessment of freshwaters is currently primarily based on biological communities and the reference condition approach (RCA). In the RCA, the communities in streams and lakes disturbed by humans are compared with communities in reference conditions with no or minimal anthropogenic influence. The currently favored rationale is using selected community metrics for which the expected values (E) for each site are typically estimated from environmental variables using a predictive model based on the reference data. The proportional differences between the observed values (O) and E are then derived, and the decision rules for status ass…
