Problemes de la història social de la llengua dels segles XIX i XX

Reflections on the conditions, contents and methodology of the social history of Catalan, reflections which deal with the 19th and 20th centuries, but go beyond these periods. From a perspective close to that of the sociology of knowledge, the author points out the limitations that threaten the status of this discipline. He points out some problems both in method and exegesis, such as access to data, reliability of these data, interdisciplinary collaboration, the conceptual scope of linguistic change, the distinction between facts and interpretations, and periodization.
Les representacions de la «sociolingüística catalana»

This article analyses the sociolinguistics elaborated in the Catalan speaking countries, based on a textual corpus. First, different topics are examined; second, the most neglected aspects are indicated (with a theoretical reflection on the paradigm concept and a deep evaluation of Aracil’s work); third, the analysed common loci are compared and their relevance discussed. Finally, the representations of the studied authors are analysed from two different points of view: from a theoretical model based on the Catastrophe Theory and from the sociological paradigm perspective.

En aquest article s’estudien les fonts i els préstecs literaris que es poden detectar en «Lo Desengany», una notable peça dramàtica en dos actes escrita per Francesc Fontanella cap al 1650. Bon coneixedor de la literatura clàssica i de les iteratures més importants del seu temps (la castellana, la francesa i la italiana), Fontanella reflecteix en aquesta obra les seves lectures, i concretament les dels «Idil·lis» de Teòcrit, les «Metamorfosis» d’Ovidi, la «Farsàlia» de Lucà, «La Araucana» d’Alonso de Ercilla (1569-1589) o «L’illusion comique» de Pierre de Corneille (1636). A review of the various sub-dialect classifications of Catalan in the north of the Pais Valencià, together with a proposal distinguishing northern Valencian, with two subdialects, and southern Tortosí in the eastern border with Catalonia, provide an introduction to an elaborate summary of the main dialectal research on the area. This is followed by the features characterizing these subdialects and a description of the area involved. This article describes the process by which the Nou Diccionari Normatiu de la Llengua Catalana (NDNLC) has been made; this dictionary brings up to date and regularizes Pompeu Fabra’s Diccionari General de la Llengua Catalana (DGLC), which implies, on the one hand, adding to the dictionary new words brought about by different social habits and by the progress of Science and technology, and, on the other hand, bringing the contents of the dictionary up to date. The lost literature of an author provides data that, in spite of being partial, are important to better understand his preserved work and the complexity of his literary work. This article offers an approach to the losses experienced by Joan Roís de Corella’s literature down the centuries, in the full meaning of the term. It focuses on the analysis of the sources that supply information to establish a catalogue of these losses, as a starting point for subsequent work concerning the causes and periods of the disappearances.
