Understanding light-driven H 2 evolution through the electronic tuning of aminopyridine cobalt complexes
2017
A new family of cobalt complexes with the general formula [CoII(OTf)2(Y,XPyMetacn)] (1R,Y,XPyMetacn ¼ 1-[(4-X-3,5-Y-2-pyridyl)methyl]-4,7-dimethyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane, (X ¼ CN (1CN), CO2Et (1CO2Et), Cl (1Cl), H(1H), NMe2 (1NMe2)) where (Y ¼ H, and X ¼ OMe when Y ¼ Me (1DMM)) is reported. We found that the electronic tuning of the Y,XPyMetacn ligand not only has an impact on the electronic and structural properties of the metal center, but also allows for a systematic water-reduction-catalytic control. In particular, the increase of the electron-withdrawing character of the pyridine moiety promotes a 20-fold enhancement of the catalytic outcome. By UV-Vis spectroscopy, luminescence quenc…
Synthese und Eigenschaften molekulareinheitlicher n-Paraffine bis zum C140H282
1972
Modeling of a continuous photocatalytic reactor for isovaleraldehyde oxidation: Effect of different operating parameters and chemical degradation pat…
2013
International audience; An investigation of isovaleraldehyde (ISOV) photocatalytic oxidation was conducted at initial concentrations ranging from 25 to 150 mg/m3 and different relative humidities (5-90% RH) in order to characterize the process performances close to indoor air conditions. Experiments were carried out in two different reactors: cylinder and flat-plate photoreactor (planar reactor) at different air gap (20-60 mm) and gas residence times (0.67-5.0 s). A plug flow reactor system was developed in order to perform kinetic studies of (i) isovaleraldehyde removal, (ii) selectivity of CO2, (iii) byproducts formation and removal. It appears that ISOV removal efficiencies increased wit…
Electrochemically reduced titanocene dichloride as a catalyst of reductive dehalogenation of organic halides
2006
Abstract We have studied a reaction between the reduced form of titanocene dichloride (Cp 2 TiCl 2 ) and a group of organic halides: benzyl derivatives (4-X C 6 H 4 CH 2 Cl, X = H, NO 2 , CH 3 ; 4-X C 6 H 4 CH 2 Br, X = H, NO 2 , PhC(O); 4-X C 6 H 4 CH 2 SCN, X = H, NO 2 ) as well as three aryl halides (4-NO 2 C 6 H 4 Hal, Hal = Cl, Br; 4-CH 3 O-C 6 H 4 Cl). It has been shown that the electrochemical reduction of Cp 2 TiCl 2 in the presence of these benzyl halides leads to a catalytic cycle resulting in the reductive dehalogenation of these organic substrates to yield mostly corresponding toluene derivatives as the main product. No dehalogenation has been observed for aryl derivatives. Base…
Formaldehyde: Catalytic Oxidation as a Promising Soft Way of Elimination
2013
International audience; Compared to other molecules such as benzene, toluene, xylene, and chlorinated compounds, the catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde has been studied rarely. However, standards for the emission level of this pollutant will become more restrictive because of its extreme toxicity even at very low concentrations in air. As a consequence, the development of a highly efficient process for its selective elimination is needed. Complete catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde into CO2 and H2O using noble-metal-based catalysts is a promising method to convert this pollutant at room temperature, making this process energetically attractive from an industrial point of view. However, th…
Selective photooxidation of ortho-substituted benzyl alcohols and the catalytic role of ortho-methoxybenzaldehyde
2016
It has been recently reported by Palmisano et al. (2015) [1] that the oxidation of 2-methoxybenzyl alcohol (2-MBA) to 2-methoxybenzaldehyde (2-MBAD) proceeds in water under near-UV light with an unexpected catalytic effect of 2-MBAD. In order to investigate the catalytic role of aldehyde in photolytic oxidation of ortho-substituted benzyl alcohols (OSBAs), reactivity runs were carried out with 2-methylbenzyl alcohol (2-MeBA), 2-nitrobenzyl alcohol (2-NBA), 2-hydroxybenzyl alcohol (2-HBA) and 2-chlorobenzyl alcohol (2-CIBA) in the absence and in the presence of their corresponding aldehyde. None of those alcohols showed a measurable oxidation rate even in the presence of their aldehydes but …
In silico identification and experimental validation of hits active against KPC-2 β-lactamase
2018
Bacterial resistance has become a worldwide concern, particularly after the emergence of resistant strains overproducing carbapenemases. Among these, the KPC-2 carbapenemase represents a significant clinical challenge, being characterized by a broad substrate spectrum that includes aminothiazoleoxime and cephalosporins such as cefotaxime. Moreover, strains harboring KPC-type β-lactamases are often reported as resistant to available β-lactamase inhibitors (clavulanic acid, tazobactam and sulbactam). Therefore, the identification of novel non β-lactam KPC-2 inhibitors is strongly necessary to maintain treatment options. This study explored novel, non-covalent inhibitors active against KPC-2, …
Mutational analysis of eggplant latent viroid RNA processing in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii chloroplast.
2009
Viroids of the family Avsunviroidae, such as eggplant latent viroid (ELVd), contain hammerhead ribozymes and replicate in the chloroplasts of the host plant through an RNA-based symmetrical rolling-circle mechanism in which oligomeric RNAs of both polarity are processed to monomeric linear RNAs (by cleavage) and to monomeric circular RNAs (by ligation). Using an experimental system consisting of transplastomic lines of the alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, a mutational analysis of sequence and structural elements in the ELVd molecule that are involved in transcript processing in vivo in a chloroplastic context was carried out. A collection of six insertion and three deletion ELVd mutants was …
A chimeric ribozyme in Clostridium difficile combines features of group I introns and insertion elements
2002
CdlSt1, a DNA insertion of 1975 bp, was identified within tcdA-C34, the enterotoxin gene of the Clostridium difficile isolate C34. Located in the catalytic domain A1-C34, Cd/St1 combines features of two genetic elements. Within the first 434 nt structures characteristic for group I introns were found; encoding the two transposase-like proteins tlpA and tlpB nucleotides 435-1975 represent the remainder of a IS605-like insertion element. We show that the entire CdlSt1 is accurately spliced from tcdA-C34 primary transcripts and that purified TcdA-C34 toxin is of regular size and catalytic activity. A search for CdlSt1-related sequences demonstrates that the element is widespread in toxinogenic…
Active Site Mapping of Xylan-Deconstructing Enzymes with Arabinoxylan Oligosaccharides Produced by Automated Glycan Assembly
2017
Xylan-degrading enzymes are crucial for the deconstruction of hemicellulosic biomass, making the hydrolysis products available for various industrial applications such as the production of biofuel. To determine the substrate specificities of these enzymes, we prepared a collection of complex xylan oligosaccharides by automated glycan assembly. Seven differentially protected building blocks provided the basis for the modular assembly of 2-substituted, 3-substituted, and 2-/3-substituted arabino- and glucuronoxylan oligosaccharides. Elongation of the xylan backbone relied on iterative additions of C4-fluorenylmethoxylcarbonyl (Fmoc) protected xylose building blocks to a linker-functionalized …
