Daily streamlow prediction with uncertainty in ephemeral catchments using the GLUE methodology

Abstract The Generalised Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE) approach is presented here as a tool for estimating the predictive uncertainty of a rainfall–runoff model. The GLUE methodology allows to recognise the possible equifinality of different parameter sets and assesses the likelihood of a parameters set being acceptable simulator when model predictions are compared to observed field data. The results of the GLUE methodology depend greatly on the choice of the likelihood measure and on the choice of the threshold which determines if a parameters set is behavioural or not. Streamwater responses to reduced nitrogen deposition at four small upland catchments in Norway

AbstractReduced emissions of nitrogen (N) in Europe have resulted in decreasing atmospheric deposition since 1990. Long-term data (1988–2017) from four small Norwegian catchments located along gradients in N deposition, rainfall, and organic carbon (C) show different responses to 25–30% reductions in N deposition during the same period. At three sites the decreased N deposition caused reduced leaching of nitrate to surface water, whereas the westernmost site showed no decrease, probably due to thin soils with low C:N ratio, poor vegetation cover and high precipitation. Para el cálculo de la producción de escorrentía se ha utilizado el método desarrollado por el S.C.S. modificado por Témez (1978) que combina los mapas de pendientes, usos del suelo y grupo hidrológico del suelo. Se ha aplicado una adaptación del método propuesta por Camarasa et al. (2006) basado en la interpretación hidrogeomorfológica de la cuenca para la estimación del grupo hidrológico de suelo. Water quality in forests small retention reservoirs in southern Poland

W pracy przedstawiono analizę jakości wód z terenów trzech nowopowstałych zbiorników małej retencji leśnej (Rudziczka, Niemysłowice I, zbiornik Paciorkowy) zlokalizowanych na terenie Nadleśnictwa Prudnik, w województwie opolskim (południowa Polska). Głównymi funkcjami zbiorników są retencja wody, ochrona przeciwpowodziowa i przeciwpożarowa, funkcje rekreacyjna i ekologiczna. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań wykonanych w grudniu 2014 i w maju 2015 roku. Oceny jakości wód dokonano zgodnie z obowiązującymi przepisami w sprawie oceny jakości wód. This study is part of a process of habitat restoration and management of Finnish and Swedish rivers. This study was conducted to analyse detailed and generalised data regarding microhabitat factors and dimensions of spawning redd of brown trout (salmo trutta). The objectives of this study were to analyse connections between redd dimensions, connections between redd length and microhabitat factors and to analyse the variability of redd length and microhabitat factors among catchments in order to understand spawning habitat selectivity of brown trout (salmo trutta).
