Chapter 8: EPR in glass ceramics

2019

The development of novel materials requires a profound understanding of the relationship between a material's performance and its structural properties. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) is a well-established technique for a direct detection and identification of paramagnetic defects in solids. This chapter provides an overview of the applicability of continuous wave EPR spectroscopy in the studies of glass ceramics focusing on transition metal (Mn2 +, Cu2 +, Cr3 +) and rare earth (Gd3 +, Eu2 +, Er3 +, Yb3 +) ion local structure analysis. EPR spectra features of the above-mentioned paramagnetic probes in glasses and glass ceramics are compared and discussed in detail. The chapter also s…

EU anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures in context of electronic money institutions and payment processors

2018

The purpose of the given research would be to analyze the current EU AML / CTF regime with regard to electronic money institutions and payment providers, detect the scope of legal norms and regulations, obliging them, identify potential loopholes and suggest additional measures to strengthen existing AML and CTF legal regimes with regard to such entities.

Electronic procurement system – instrument for implementing green public procurement: analysis of the Latvia’s expierence

2019

Green public procurement (GPP) is a mean of saving up finances for public institutions, especially taking into consideration not only procurement price but also total expenses of the contract lifecycle. In Latvia the first Electronic Procurement System (EPS) was established in 2005 and was the first such procurement system in the Baltic States. Initially, it only acted as an e-Procurement system in which public institutions can purchase standard goods and services. This paper analyzes the success of the implementation methodology for evaluating e-Procurement in public procurement. The aim of the paper is to explore the proportion of applied GPP of total procurement in EPS in Latvia in the p…

Dielectric response of BaTiO electronic states under AC fields via microsecond time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy

2021

This research was performed under the approval of the Photon Factory Program Advisory Committee (PF-PAC; Contract Numbers 2015G580, 2017G587, and 2019G614) and was financially supported by JSPS KAKENHI Grant Numbers 18H01153 , 19H02426 , and 18K19126 . The experiment for measuring spectra in Fig. 6 (b) was performed on beamline BM26A (proposal MA 2731) at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), Grenoble, France. We are grateful to Local Contact at the ESRF for providing assistance in using beamline BM26A.
