The Co-cathedral of San Nicolás de Alicante still preserves an important treasure of pieces of silverware, ranging from the 17th to the 20th centuries, although the greatest development was known during the 18th century, with sumptuous commissions to the most prominent silversmiths both locally as at regional and national level. In this way, it can be said that the Alicante trousseau is a good example of a temple that, once built, focuses its efforts on the collection of silverware objects that enhance the cult and its ceremonies.

Palermo off ers a repertoire of both artistic and architectural solid perspective of great beauty and in large quantity. This paper addresses the problem of the 3D survey of these works and their related study through the use of image-based modelling (IBM) techniques. We propose, as case studies, the use of IBM techniques inside the Cathedral of Palermo. Indeed, the church houses a huge and rich sculptural repertoire, dating back to 16th century, which constitutes a valid field of IBM techniques application. Il progetto nasce dalla considerazione che l’attenzione scientifica verso la storia dell’architettura “normanna” di Sicilia si è focalizzata soprattutto sulle grandi architetture del periodo del Regno (1131-1196), ad esempio le cattedrali di Cefalù Palermo e Monreale, intese come la trasposizione materiale del sincretismo culturale che caratterizzava la società multietnica siciliana del secolo XII. After conquering Sicily between 1061 and 1091, the Normans built new cathedrals that modified not only religious life, but also architecture and urban layout. Dramatic events, like wars, earthquakes, and fires, clumsy restorations and culpable inaccuracy have profoundly altered the appearance of Norman cathedrals. The aim of this paper is to analyse the state of conservation of the Cathedrals of Palermo, Monreale, Messina and Agrigento in the fourteenth century, when Sicily was profoundly affected by the war between the Angevins and the Aragonese that lasted ninety years and impoverished the island.
