Aluminum Chloride versus Electrocauterization in Periapical Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Trial

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of 2 hemostatic agents in periapical surgery and its relationship with patient- and tooth-dependent variables.A prospective study was designed with 2 randomized parallel groups established according to the hemostatic agent used: aluminum chloride or electrocauterization. The surgeon and 2 independent blinded observers examined the initial and final bleeding and recorded it as 0 (no hemorrhage control), 1 (slight but apparent intermittent bleeding), or 2 (complete hemorrhage control). Gasless laparoscopy with conventional surgical instruments

The main advantages of gasless laparoscopy arise from the use of conventional laparotomy instruments (clamps, scissors and needle pushers). The operative time, for example, for hysterectomy procedures decreases to about 60% of the time taken hysterectomy for using conventional gas techniques. During cauterization, smoke escapes immediately through the open trocars and may even be suctioned using a conventional suction tube. As far as the nursing team is concerned, the equipment is familiar as they use the same instruments and the same sutures as in laparotomy. Endoscopic treatment of ectopic teeth in the maxillary sinus.

Background Ectopic teeth in maxillary sinus is rare and are usually removed via sub-labial trans-canine fossa approach (SLCFA). The aim of our study was to present our experience with extraction of ectopic teeth in the maxillary sinus via transnasal endoscopic approach (TEA). Material and methods Rhinologists were asked to share their experience in the management of ectopic teeth in the maxillary sinus. Data were reviewed retrospectively.
