Interleukin-17A promotes the growth of human germinal center derived non-Hodgkin B cell lymphoma

2015

Interleukin (IL)-17A belongs to IL-17 superfamily and binds the heterodimeric IL-17 receptor (R)(IL-17RA/IL-17RC). IL-17A promotes germinal center (GC) formation in mouse models of autoimmune or infectious diseases, but the role of IL-17A/IL-17AR complex in human neoplastic GC is unknown. In this study, we investigated expression and function of IL-17A/IL-17AR in the microenvironments of 44 B cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas (B-NHL) of GC origin (15 follicular lymphomas, 17 diffuse large B cells lymphomas and 12 Burkitt lymphomas) and 12 human tonsil GC. Furthermore, we investigated the role of IL-17A in two in vivo models of GC B cell lymphoma, generated by s.c. injection of SU-DHL-4 and OCI-Ly8…

Abstract PO-35: Prognostic significance of MYC, BCL2, and BCL6 colocalization at single-cell resolution in DLBCL

2020

Abstract MYC, BCL2, and BCL6 are commonly used markers for immunohistochemistry of Diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL). Coexpression of MYC and BCL2 in particular constitutes a subgroup of “double expressor lymphomas” (DEL) with a distinct poor clinical outcome. However, it is not known if MYC and BCL2/BCL6 coexpression occurs in the same cell or in different cells within the tumor, as traditional immunohistochemistry (IHC) is limited by the number of markers that can be simultaneously assessed within formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples. We set out to discover the clinical significance of MYC, BCL2, and BCL6 colocalization at single-cell resolution using multiplexed quantita…

Limestone petrography and geochemical composition at ROV station GeoB12353-11

Authigenic carbonate build-ups develop at seafloor methane-seeps, where microbially mediated sulphate-dependent anaerobic oxidation of methane facilitates carbonate precipitation. Despite being valuable recorders of past methane seepage events, their role as archives of atmospheric processes has not been examined. Here we show that cyclic sedimentation pulses related to the Indian monsoon in concert with authigenic precipitation of methane-derived aragonite gave rise to a well-laminated carbonate build-up within the oxygen minimum zone off Pakistan (northern Arabian Sea). U?Th dating indicates that the build-up grew during past ~1,130 years, creating an exceptional high-resolution archive o…

Activity Ratios, concentrations, calculated and model ages of LIG fossil reef corals from Aqaba, Jordan

2018

Here we present 230Th/U, 231Pa/U as well as 226Ra/230Th isotope ratios from five fossil reef corals of Last Interglacial origin from the Gulf of Aqaba, Northern Red Sea. The results show clear evidence for open-system behaviour with strongly elevated δ234U values and U concentrations indicating post-depositional U addition. The combined application of all isotope systems enables us to better constrain the nature and timing of the open-system processes than only based on the 230Th/U data. Quantitative modelling of the diagenetic processes allowed us to reproduce the trends in the isotope ratios. Two of the five corals were probably affected by two separate phases of U addition with different…

Pore water measurements of sediment cores from the Helgoland mud area, North Sea

2015

Iron reduction in subseafloor sulfate-depleted and methane-rich marine sediments is currently a subject of interest in subsurface geomicrobiology. While iron reduction and microorganisms involved have been well studied in marine surface sediments, little is known about microorganisms responsible for iron reduction in deep methanic sediments. Here, we used quantitative PCR (Q-PCR)-based 16S rRNA gene copy numbers and pyrosequencing-based relative abundances of bacteria and archaea to investigate covariance between distinct microbial populations and specific geochemical profiles in the top 5 m of sediment cores from the Helgoland mud area, North Sea. We found that gene copy numbers of bacteri…

USING ROTATING SPRINKLER GUNS IN CENTRE‐PIVOT IRRIGATION SYSTEMS †

2019

The use of centre-pivot irrigation systems has significantly increased in the last few decades, since they are easier and less time-consuming to manage compared to other irrigation systems. Standard high-pressure impact sprinklers, low-pressure spray sprinklers or LEPA (Low Energy Precision Application) systems are usually combined with a centre-pivot irrigation system (CP-SYS). However, when applying waste water or with reclaimed effluents that are extremely dirty, small nozzle sizes that require CP-SYS could get plugged. As an alternative to common centre-pivot irrigation systems, this paper analyses the ‘geometry’ of areas irrigated by rotating sprinkler guns in a centre-pivot irrigation…

Centre-pivot irrigation system design for uniform water application rate

2020

In the last few decades, the use of centre-pivot irrigation systems has significantly increased, since it makes farming easier, is more efficient and less time-consuming compared to the other irrigation systems. Several studies have been focused on the hydraulics of the centre-pivot systems. Standard high-pressure impact sprinklers or low-pressure spray sprinklers or Low Energy Precision Application (LEPA) systems are generally mounted on the pipeline.

To ensure the uniformity of water application, the centre-pivot design requires increasing the flow rates along the lateral, because the sprinklers farther from the pivot move faster, and th…

Experimental study and physical modeling of simultaneous heat and moisture transfer in bio-sourced insulating materials.

2019

The conventional heat transfer models are not sufficiently suitable for thermal characterization of bio-sourced thermal insulating materials due to their strongly hydrophilic nature. The proposed work in this PhD thesis aims to answer this problem with experimental and theoretical approaches of coupled heat-moisture transfers. In the experimental approach, a thermal insulating material based on Flax Fiber Felt (FFF) is developed and then characterized at different hygrometric conditions with an asymmetric hot plate device. The humidity diffusion characterization of the samples is done using the GAB, GDW and Park theoretical moisture adsorption isotherm models. In the theoretical approach, a…

The Future of Historic Centers in Egyptian Intermediate Cities: Towards guidelines of urban revitalization.

2014
