Clustering of spatial point patterns

Spatial point patterns arise as the natural sampling information in many problems. An ophthalmologic problem gave rise to the problem of detecting clusters of point patterns. A set of human corneal endothelium images is given. Each image is described by using a point pattern, the cell centroids. The main problem is to find groups of images corresponding with groups of spatial point patterns. This is interesting from a descriptive point of view and for clinical purposes. Invisible Graffiti on Your Buildings: Blind and Squaring-Proof Watermarking of Geographical Databases

Due to the ease of digital copy, watermarking is crucial to protect the intellectual property of rights owners. We propose an effective watermarking method for vectorial geographical databases, with the focus on the buildings layer. Embedded watermarks survive common geographical filters, including the essential squaring and simplification transformations, as well as deliberate removal attempts, e.g. by noise addition, cropping or over-watermarking. On the use of neighbourhood-based non-parametric classifiers

Alternative non-parametric classification schemes, which come from the use of different definitions of neighbourhood, are introduced. In particular, the Nearest Centroid Neighbourhood along with the neighbourhood relation derived from the Gabriel Graph and the Relative Neighbourhood Graph are used to define the corresponding (k-)Nearest Neighbour-like classifiers. Experimental results are reported to compare the performance of the approaches proposed here to the one obtained with the k-Nearest Neighbours rule.

Cluster classification of dysphagia-oriented products considering flow, thixotropy and oscillatory testing

Abstract The present paper proposes an objective classification of commercial thickened food widely used in patients with dysphagia. A total of 34 commercial enteral nutrition products were analyzed (beverages, main courses and desserts) corresponding to 6 different commercial brands. All these products contain different hydrocolloids (i.e., starch, xanthan gum, carrageenans, etc.) as thickeners, in order to get the desired texture. Modelling analysis of centroid curves of olfactory habituation in humans

Indexation en cours.; International audience; Previously published experiments established the time-course of olfactory habituation in humans, and extracted 3 centroid curves from clustering analysis that reflected high, middle and low habituation. The aim of the current theoretical study was to further analyse these previous experimental data by developing a mathematical modelling analysis designed for fitting the 3 curves from a general equation. Classification of Chitinozoa (Llandoverian, Canada) Using Image Analysis

Chitinozoa (Llandoverian, Canada) were studied using image analysis. After digitalization of the objects, shape parameters were calculated. The boundary of each fossil was then traced by a vector centred at the centroid for Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Results of the two methods were used as variables in a hierarchical cluster analysis in order to group the samples. These results show that Chitinozoa can be significantly classified in terms of taxa using independent shape parameters obtained by image analysis.

Recognition of Cardiac Arrhythmia by Means of Beat Clustering on ECG-Holter Recordings

The follow-up of some cardiac diseases may be achieved by ECG-holter record analysis. A heartbeat clustering method can be used to reduce the usually high computational cost of such Holter analysis. This study describes a method aimed at cardiac arrhythmia recognition based on this approach, by means of unsupervised inspection of morphologically similar heartbeat groups. Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) is used as the feature selection method since the complexity increases exponentially with the number of features.
