International audience; Objective and methodsWe analyze the influence of population movement on susceptibility to death and resilience during two epidemics occurring in Dijon soon after the Black Death. Using a specific program designed to propose links between entries in annual tax registers, we define tentative heads of household, the elapsed time since their first registration and their ties with other persons within the city.ResultsDuring the 1400 epidemic heads of household who were registered for 1–3 years die in large numbers, whereas during years without epidemics, their death rate is lower than that of heads of household who were registered longer. AbstractThe neuronal ceroid-lipofuscinoses (Batten disease) collectively constitute one of the most common groups of inherited childhood onset neurodegenerative disorders, and have also been identified in many domestic and laboratory animals. The group of human neuronal ceroid-lipofuscinoses currently comprises 14 genetically distinct disorders, mostly characterised by progressive mental, motor and visual deterioration with onset in childhood or adolescence. This article analyzes the reception of the classical world in the Spanish nobiliary culture at the end of the 18th century. Our objective is materialized through the study of the Greco-Roman books present in the unpublished catalog of the library of José Álvarez de Toledo, 11th Marqués de villafranca. From the examination of the authors and the different editions conserved by the aristocrat, the work tries to examine the influence of the classical world and its actuality in the development of the most advanced nobiliary culture of eighteenth- century Spain.
