The subject of the article entitled ‘‘Portrait of the end of an epoch in Ladislav Fuks’ novel Vévodkyně a kuchařka” is the reflection on the last work of the novelist published in 1983. During the last few years Europe is heading the problem of refugees. Nowadays there are 125 ethnicities in Crimea. Poles constitute one of these groups, and it is not the smallest one. A part of the contemporary community of Crimean Poles are the descendants of Polish refugees, who came to the peninsula in the first half of the 20th century. The present article is based on an analysis of the data from Crimean archives referring to the given topic. Il primo è attestato a Petralia Sottana, dove realizza diverse opere tra cui l’inedito servizio di cartagloria in argento del 1758 commissionatogli da don Gaetano Carapezza, procuratore dell’altare delle Anime del Purgatorio della Chiesa Madre, e a Petralia Soprana, centro in cui si trova l’unica opera firmata, la cassettina per elemosina custodita nel Tesoro della Matrice. Artikkelissa käsittelen pohjoisimman Savon rajojen muotoutumista keskiajalla ja 1500-luvulla Täyssinän rauhaan 1595 saakka. Sen päälähteenä on käytetty rajanmuodostuksesta kertovia tuomiokirjeitä ja rajaluetteloita, joita on peilattu paikannimitutkimukseen. Pääkysymyksiä ovat pohjoisen Savon Novgorodin ja Venäjän vastaisen itärajan muotoutuminen Pähkinäsaaren rauhansopimuksen (1323) jälkeen sekä Hämeen vastaisen länsirajan synty 1400-luvun puolivälissä.
