2017
Leisure trip through Upper Silesia is the text of a German author anonymously published in the „Schlesische Provinzial-Blätter” in 1805 (No. 41; German title – Lustreise durch Oberschlesien). Until now, it was perceived in the political dimension. It was believed that the text was to present glorious development of the region under Prussian rule and, therefore, it was interpreted as a justification for the benefits born out of conquest. The article’s author concluded that the content of this guide can be perceived slightly different, namely, in the perspective of developing travel literature in its various forms in the nineteenth century. Only through a combination of dual perspectives: 1) …

2016
The play entitled The Madwoman of Chaillot (1945) by Jean Giraudoux (1882– 1944) is a poetic expression, through a true/false game, of the author’s anxiety concerning the politics of the excessive exploitation of the Earth’s natural resources and its consequences. The idea of getting rich no matter what has been ridiculed with mastery, due to the characteristics of the style of the author of Electra, such as parody, irony, and agility. The main character is ambivalent, which allows interpretative variations and makes the matter of the play complicated and equivocal, which has been proved by the Polish staging of the play in 1947.
2021
Considering that it is difficult, if not impossible, for an analysis of Chopin?s music to unmask some aspects of his private life (such as an alleged sexual and affective attraction for individuals of his own sex), we can however argue that, throughout the 19th century, a connection was established between his work and a ?feminine universe.? That connection might have had implications in the way in which the feminized image of its author was constructed. The analysis of certain aesthetic and stylistic traits of Chopin?s music can help understand the causes of that perception.
An unexpected representation of burgundian vineyards in the 16th century: the map of “Les Environs de l’estang de Longpendu”
2022
The Environs de l’étang de Longpendu map by Jean Vandamme shows a part of the Burgundy territory, located in the center of Charolais, probably at the end of the sixteenth century. It is representative of a complex corpus and shows, in various ways, a part of the Burgundy vineyards in the North, and Charolais forests and plains in the South. The vineyards shown are partly those occupied by today’s Côte de Beaune, Côte chalonnaise, Mâconnais and Couchois. This is one of the oldest representations of the vineyard in Burgundy, and a precious tool for documenting the dynamics of vineyard expansion from the 16th to the 21st century.
