DIETA DEL DELFÍN DE RISSO (GRAMPUS GRISEUS) EN EL MEDITERRÁNEO OCCIDENTAL. – Se ha analizado el contenido gastrointestinal de quince ejemplares de Grampus griseus varados en el Mediterráneo occidental entre 40º25’N 00º32’W y 37º35’N 00º45’E durante el período 1987 a 2003. Los resultados indican una dieta teutófaga, basada principalmente en cefalópodos oceánicos destacando los octópodos pelágicos, especialmente Argonauta argo, como la presa más abundante (media = 41,28%; SD±34,32). Algunas especies pertenecientes a las familias mmastrephidae, Histioteuthidae y Onychoteuthidae son también componentes frecuentes de la misma. Hemocyanin in mollusks--a molecular survey and new data on hemocyanin genes in Solenogastres and Caudofoveata.

The most common respiratory protein of mollusks is the blue, copper-containing hemocyanin (van Holde and Miller, 1995). It is not bound to hemocytes but suspended in the hemolymph. Its molecular mass ranges from 3500 10 to 8000 10 Da (dalton) or even more (Herskovits, 1988). These differences in molecular weight are due to the fact that the basic decamers that constitute the barrel-shaped protein may aggregate to didecamers or multidecameric elongated particles (Herskovits, 1988). An Upper Mississippian echinoderm microfauna from the Genicera Formation of northern León (Carboniferous, Cantabrian Mountains, N Spain)

For the first time an echinoderm microfauna is recorded from the cephalopod limestone facies (‘griotte facies’) of the lower Carboniferous (Mississippian) Genicera Fm. (Alba Fm.). The formation is widespread in the Cantabrian Mountains in NW Spain, but the ossicles are from some sections in the surroundings of the Bernesga valley in northern León. They have been derived from insoluble acetic acid residues from samples of the upper and especially of the uppermost part of the formation (Canalón Mb. and Millaró Beds).
