Effective and environmental half-lives of radiocesium in game from Poland.

2021

For the first time changes in the 137Cs activity in game throughout Poland, including its most contaminated part known as the Opole Anomaly, were analyzed. Due to its long physical half-life, 137Cs continuously demonstrates high activity both in soil and biota. The species of game mammals, along with forest fruit and mushrooms, tend to accumulate this radionuclide, becoming one of the main sources of secondary contamination in people. In this study the 137Cs activity in roe deer, wild boar and red deer muscle tissue samples, within the years of 1986–2019, were studied. The effective and environmental half-lives were determined for each of the mentioned species for four regions including NE …

Evidence of oblate-prolate shape coexistence in the strongly-deformed nucleus 119Cs

2021

International audience; Prolate-oblate shape coexistence close to the ground state in the strongly-deformed proton-rich A≈120 nuclei is reported for the first time. One of the four reported bands in 119Cs, built on a 11/2− state at 670 keV, consists of nearly degenerate signature partners, and has properties which unequivocally indicate the strongly-coupled πh11/2[505]11/2− configuration associated with oblate shape. Together with the decoupled πh11/2[541]3/2− band built on the 11/2− prolate state at 110 keV, for which a half-life of T1/2=55(5)μs has been measured, the new bands bring evidence of shape coexistence at low spin in the proton-rich strongly deformed A≈120 nuclei, a phenomenon p…

RADIONUCLIDE CONCENTRATIONS IN AIR PARTICULATE AT PALERMO (ITALY) FOLLOWING FUKUSHIMA ACCIDENT

2012

Following the Fukushima accident, a series of samplings were carried out with a daily frequency to detect the arrival of radioactive contamination in air at Palermo (Italy) and to follow its evolution during the time. Air particulate collection was performed by suction of atmospheric air through cellulose filter paper by means of a high-volume air sampler (∼15 000 m(3) d(-1)). Spectrometric analysis of the filters highlights the presence of (131)I, (134)Cs, (137)Cs and, only for a few samples, traces of (132)Te-(132)I and (136)Cs. Maximum airborne concentrations were 883 μBq m(-3) for (131)I (only particulate), 81 μBq m(-3) for (137)Cs and 70 μBq m(-3) for (134)Cs. From a dose to population…

Cation binding resorcinarene bis-crowns: the effect of lower rim alkyl chain length on crystal packing and solid lipid nanoparticles

2012

A group of seven resorcinarene bis-crown ethers (CNBC5) with two polyether bridges at the upper rim and either propyl, butyl, pentyl, heptyl, nonyl, decyl or undecyl groups at the lower rim were synthesized and their binding properties with Cs+ were investigated by NMR titration. The bis-crowns form 1:2 complexes with Cs+ with binding constants of logK 4–5. Crystal structures of bis-crowns and their Cs+ and K+ complexes were studied and different packing motifs were found depending on the alkyl chain length. Short ethyl, propyl and butyl alkyl chains gave a layer or pillar packing where the polar and non-polar regions cannot be distinguished, whereas longer pentyl and decyl chains formed bi…

Calcium dicaesium silver thiocyanate dihydrate.

2001

The title compound, CaCs2[Ag2(SCN)6]·2H2O, forms a continuous structure where the Ag atoms form chains with S atoms in the c-axis direction. The chains are bonded together through Cs and Ca atoms. The crystal water of the structure is bonded to the Ca atoms, which lie on centers of symmetry.

Enhanced nanoscopy of individual CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals using dielectric sub-micrometric antennas

2020

We demonstrate an efficient, simple, and low-cost approach for enhanced nanoscopy in individual green emitting perovskite (CsPbBr3) nanocrystals via TiO2 dielectric nanoantenna. The observed three- to five-fold emission enhancement is attributed to near-field effects and emission steering promoted by the coupling between the perovskite nanocrystals and the dielectric sub-micrometric antennas. The dark-field scattering configuration is then exploited for surface-enhanced absorption measurements, showing a large increase in detection sensitivity, leading to the detection of individual nanocrystals. Due to the broadband spectral response of the Mie sub-micrometric antennas, the method can be e…

Demonstration and partial characterization of an intermediate HBcAG (Dane particle) population.

1981

Abstract Hepatitis-B core antigen (HBcAg) was released from Dane particles previously separated from anti-HBc by repeated pelleting through sucrose gradients separated into three HBcAg populations when analysed by cesium chloride density gradient centrifugation. Heavy HBcAg particles banded at a density of 1.355 gm/ml, intermediate HBcAg particles at a density of 1.33 gm/ml, and light mediate HBcAg particles at a density of 1.30 gm/ml. Like heavy HBcAg particles, intermediate HBcAg particles contained DNA polymerase activity, but the ratio of HBcAg to DNA polymerase activity was significantly different in both populations. Intermediate HBcAg particles could not be separated from heavy HBcAg…

Efficient microwave-assisted direct radiosynthesis of [(18)F]PR04.MZ and [(18)F]LBT999: selective dopamine transporter ligands for quantitative molec…

2009

Abstract PR04.MZ 8-(4-fluoro-but-2-ynyl)-3- p -tolyl-8-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]octane-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester ( 1 ) and LBT999 8-(( E )-4-fluoro-but-2-enyl)-3b- p -tolyl-8-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]octane-2β-carboxylic acid methyl ester ( 2 ) are selective dopamine reuptake inhibitors, derived from cocaine. Compounds 1 and 2 were labelled with fluorine-18 at their terminally fluorinated N-substituents employing microwave enhanced direct nucleophilic fluorination. K[ 18 F]F − Kryptofix ® 222 cryptate, tetrabutyl ammonium [ 18 F]fluoride and caesium [ 18 F]fluoride were compared as fluoride sources under conventional and microwave enhanced conditions. Fluorination yields were remarkably increased un…
