Bifurcations in the Lozi map
2011
We study the presence in the Lozi map of a type of abrupt order-to-order and order-to-chaos transitions which are mediated by an attractor made of a continuum of neutrally stable limit cycles, all with the same period.
Forced oscillations in a self-oscillating surface reaction model
2004
A microscopic lattice gas model for the catalytic CO + O2 reaction on Pt(110) subject to external periodic forcing is studied by means of cellular automaton simulations. Harmonic resonance, subharmonic and superharmonic entrainment, quasiperiodic as well as chaotic behavior are among the observed phenomena in this model when the gas phase concentration of CO as an external control parameter is periodically varied and interacts with the self-oscillating reaction system.
Digit replacement: A generic map for nonlinear dynamical systems
2016
A simple discontinuous map is proposed as a generic model for nonlinear dynamical systems. The orbit of the map admits exact solutions for wide regions in parameter space and the method employed (digit manipulation) allows the mathematical design of useful signals, such as regular or aperiodic oscillations with specific waveforms, the construction of complex attractors with nontrivial properties as well as the coexistence of different basins of attraction in phase space with different qualitative properties. A detailed analysis of the dynamical behavior of the map suggests how the latter can be used in the modeling of complex nonlinear dynamics including, e.g., aperiodic nonchaotic attracto…
Robust γ-filter using support vector machines
2009
This Letter presents a new approach to time-series modelling using the support vector machines (SVM). Although the g-filter can provide stability in several time-series models, the SVM is proposed here to provide robustness in the estimation of the g-filter coefficients. Examples in chaotic time-series prediction and channel equalization show the advantages of the joint SVM g-filter. Teoría de la Señal y Comunicaciones
Diffusive neural network
2002
Abstract A non-connectionist model of a neuronal network based on passive diffusion of neurotransmitters is presented as an alternative to hard-wired artificial neural networks. Classic thermodynamical approach shows that the diffusive network is capable of exhibiting asymptotic stability and a dynamics resembling that of a chaotic system. Basic computational capabilities of the net are discussed based on the equivalence with a Turing machine. The model offers a way to represent mass-sustained brain functions in terms of recurrent behaviors in the phase space.
A method for the time-varying nonlinear prediction of complex nonstationary biomedical signals
2009
A method to perform time-varying (TV) nonlinear prediction of biomedical signals in the presence of nonstationarity is presented in this paper. The method is based on identification of TV autoregressive models through expansion of the TV coefficients onto a set of basis functions and on k -nearest neighbor local linear approximation to perform nonlinear prediction. The approach provides reasonable nonlinear prediction even for TV deterministic chaotic signals, which has been a daunting task to date. Moreover, the method is used in conjunction with a TV surrogate method to provide statistical validation that the presence of nonlinearity is not due to nonstationarity itself. The approach is t…
CIPRNG: A VLSI Family of Chaotic Iterations Post-Processings for $\mathbb {F}_{2}$ -Linear Pseudorandom Number Generation Based on Zynq MPSoC
2018
Hardware pseudorandom number generators are continuously improved to satisfy both physical and ubiquitous computing security system challenges. The main contribution of this paper is to propose two post-processing modules in hardware, to improve the randomness of linear PRNGs while succeeding in passing the TestU01 statistical battery of tests. They are based on chaotic iterations and are denoted by CIPRNG-MC and CIPRNG-XOR. They have various interesting properties, encompassing the ability to improve the statistical profile of the generators on which they iterate. Such post-processing have been implemented on FPGA and ASIC without inferring any blocs (RAM or DSP). A comparison in terms of …
Resonance phenomena in a nonlinear neuronal circuit
2015
International audience; We characterizes a nonlinear circuit driven by a bichromatic excitation, that is the sum of two sinusoidal waves with different frequencies f1 and f2 suchthat f2 > f1. Our experiments are confirmed by a numerical analysis of the systemresponse obtained by solving numerically the differential equations which rule thecircuit voltages. Especially, we highlight that the response of the system at the lowfrequency can be optimized by the amplitude of the high frequency. By revisiting thiswell known vibrational resonance effect in the whole amplitude frequency parametricplane, we show experimentally and numerically that a much better resonance can beachieved when the two fre…
Analysis of an Experimental Model of In Vitro Cardiac Tissue Using Phase Space Reconstruction
2014
International audience; The in vitro cultures of cardiac cells represent valuable models to study the mechanism of the arrhythmias at the cellular level. But the dynamics of these experimental models cannot be characterized precisely, as they include a lot of parameters that depend on experimental conditions. This paper is devoted to the investigation of the dynamics of an in vitro model using a phase space reconstruction. Our model, based on the heart cells of new born rats, generates electrical field potentials acquired using a microelectrode technology, which are analyzed in normal and under external stimulation conditions. Phase space reconstructions of electrical field potential signal…
COLORED NOISE EFFECTS ON GHOST STOCHASTIC RESONANCE
2014
International audience; We analyze the Ghost Stochastic Resonance (GSR) effect in an electronic circuit exactly ruled by the FitzHugh-Nagumo (FHN) equations, both numerically and experimentally. When the circuit is excited with a bichromatic driving with two close frequencies, we show that for an appropriate noise intensity the circuit response exhibits a ghost frequency which is not present in the biharmonic input signal. In this paper, we highlight the e ects of colored noise on GSR.
