Narrow Bound States of the DNN System

2012

We report on a recent calculation of the properties of the $DNN$ system, a charmed meson with two nucleons. The system is analogous to the $\bar K NN$ system substituting a strange quark by a charm quark. Two different methods are used to evaluate the binding and width, the Fixed Center approximation to the Faddeev equations and a variational calculation. In both methods we find that the system is bound by about 200 MeV and the width is smaller than 40 MeV, a situation opposite to the one of the $\bar K NN$ system and which makes this state well suited for experimental observation.

An improved limit for Γee of X(3872) and Γee measurement of ψ(3686)

2015

Çetin, Serkant Ali (Dogus Author) Using the data sets taken at center-of-mass energies above 4 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we search for the reaction e+e-→γISRX(3872)→γISRπ+π-J/ψ via the Initial State Radiation technique. The production of a resonance with quantum numbers JPC=1++ such as the X(3872) via single photon e+e- annihilation is forbidden, but is allowed by a next-to-leading order box diagram. We do not observe a significant signal of X(3872), and therefore give an upper limit for the electronic width times the branching fraction ΓeeX(3872)B(X(3872)→π+π-J/ψ)<0.13 eV at the 90% confidence level. This measurement improves upon existing limits by a factor of…

Furto, incantesimi e perdono

2013

The essay explores the role of theft in Anglo-Saxon society, studying in particular the charms, the laws, and the homilies. A section of the essay is devoted to the legend of the two thieves who were crucified with Christ and its circulation in England.

Single electron yields from semileptonic charm and bottom hadron decays in Au+Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV

2016

The PHENIX Collaboration at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has measured open heavy flavor production in minimum bias Au + Au collisions at √sNN = 200 GeV via the yields of electrons from semileptonic decays of charm and bottom hadrons. Previous heavy flavor electron measurements indicated substantial modification in the momentum distribution of the parent heavy quarks owing to the quark-gluon plasma created in these collisions. For the first time, using the PHENIX silicon vertex detector to measure precision displaced tracking, the relative contributions from charm and bottom hadrons to these electrons as a function of transverse momentum are measured in Au + Au collisions. We compare …

Rapidity and transverse-momentum dependence of the inclusive J/ψ nuclear modification factor in p-Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV

2015

We have studied the transverse-momentum (pT) dependence of the inclusive J/ψ production in p-Pb collisions at √ sNN = 5.02 TeV, in three center-of-mass rapidity (ycms) regions, down to zero pT. Results in the forward and backward rapidity ranges (2.03 < ycms < 3.53 and −4.46 < ycms < −2.96) are obtained by studying the J/ψ decay to µ +µ −, while the mid-rapidity region (−1.37 < ycms < 0.43) is investigated by measuring the e+e − decay channel. The pT dependence of the J/ψ production cross section and nuclear modification factor are presented for each of the rapidity intervals, as well as the J/ψ mean pT values. Forward and mid-rapidity results show a suppression of the J/ψ yield, with respe…
