The role of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 in orthotopic liver transplantation.

Hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury as well as acute graft rejection (RE) after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) are associated with leukocyte invasion of the graft. Local synthesis of chemokines is a key reaction in the recruitment and activation of inflammatory leukocytes and consequent liver damage. In this paper we describe the role of monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP)-1 (CCL2) in human OLT. We investigated the serum CC-chemokine levels for MCP-1 by specific ELISAs after OLT in 105 human liver allografts between September 1997 and January 2001. High CCL27 immunoreactivity in ‘supratumoral’ epidermis correlates with better prognosis in patients with cutaneous malignant melanoma

AimsIt has been proposed that the expression of chemokines and chemokine receptors by melanoma cells may have a role in tumour immune escape. Chemokine CCL27 is reported to be expressed specifically on the epidermal keratinocytes. The implication of CCL27 in cutaneous melanomas is currently unresolved. Combined aerobic and resistance training decreases inflammation markers in healthy men

Our primary aim was to study the effects of 24 weeks of combined aerobic and resistance training performed on the same day or on different days on inflammation markers. Physically active, healthy young men were randomly divided into three groups that performed: aerobic and resistance training consecutively in the same training session (SS) 2-3 days wk-1 or on alternating days (AD) 4-6 days wk-1 as well as control (C). AbstractTo identify the genetic basis of circulating concentrations of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), we conducted genome-wide association analyses for MCP-1 in 3 independent cohorts (n = 9598). The strongest association was for serum MCP-1 with a nonsynonymous polymorphism, rs12075 (Asp42Gly) in DARC, the gene for Duffy antigen receptor for chemokines, a known vascular reservoir of proinflammatory cytokines (minor allele frequency, 45.6%; P < 1.0 * 10−323). Increased expression of the homeostatic chemokines CCL19 and CCL21 in clinical and experimental Rickettsia conorii infection

Background: Based on their essential role in concerting immunological and inflammatory responses we hypothesized that the homeostatic chemokines CCL19 and CCL21 may play a pathogenic role in rickettsiae infection. Methods: Serum levels of CCL19 and CCL21 in patients with R. africae and R. conorii infection were analyzed by enzyme immunoassays. Lungs from R. conorii infected mice were examined for CCL19, CCL21 and CCR7 expression by immunohistochemistry. The chemokine monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP)-1 is thought to be involved in breast carcinogenesis. We evaluated MCP-1 serum levels in patients with breast cancer (n = 135), ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) I-III (n = 30), benign breast lesions (n = 143) and in healthy women (n = 27).
