The activity concentration of post-Chernobyl Cs in the area of the Opole Anomaly (southern Poland)

During the years 2007 and 2010, the activity concentration of 137Cs accumulated in soil, mosses Pleurozium schreberi and lichens Hypogymnia physodes was measured. The studies covered the areas of the so-called Opole Anomaly. In consequence of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant breakdown in 1986, relatively large amounts of this radionuclide were deposited in this area. In some areas of the Anomaly, over 100 times higher surface activity of 137Cs was detected, compared to the lowest values registered in Poland. Currently, 137Cs is still present in woodlands and wastelands. As at 2 April 2013, the surface activity concentration of 137Cs in soil on the tested area was from 0.34 to 67.5 kBq m−2.…

The aim of this study is to determine the chemical composition of kitchen waste and cheese whey, as well as the biogas yield obtained from the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) tests of these two raw materials. Since the separated waste collection is performed in the town of Marineo (Palermo), a sample of kitchen waste, different from food industry one and included in the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (OFMSW), was collected from the mass stored at the households of this town. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is the most frequent genetic muscle disease worldwide affecting ∼1:5000 male births. It is caused by a defective DMD gene, which leads to reduced and defective dystrophin protein expression. The constant breakdown of fibres leads to focal necrosis, myophagocytosis and a considerable influx of inflammatory cells into the muscle tissue, which is followed by increasing endomysial fibrosis. Both, inflammation and fibrosis as well as a putative relation are not yet understood immunologically. Fibrosis directly correlates with adverse outcome and early loss of ambulation. Der Beitrag fokussiert sich auf die Mystifizierung der paracelsisichen Gedanken, der Figur von Paracelsus selbst sowie des religiösen Diskurses und von manchen Debatten des 16. Jahrhunderst durch Guido Erwin Kolbenheyer. Im Mittelpunkt der Untersuchung steht die Herausbildung des "Andersartigen", der im Kontext einer nationalistischen und fremdenfeindlichen Gesinnug zum Inbegriff einer überlegenen pangermanischen Identität aufgefasst wird.

Background Lichenoid graft-versus-host disease (liGVHD) histologically shares several common features with other lichenoid dermatoses, such as cutaneous lupus erythematosus and lichen planus (LP), which collectively show a junctional infiltrate of cytotoxic lymphocytes with liquefaction of the basal layer ("interface dermatitis").
