Movement and physical activity in early childhood education and care policies of five nordic countries

The purpose of this study was to examine the values of movement and physical activity (MoPA) using government policy documents (e.g., laws and curricula) on early childhood education and care (ECEC) from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. This descriptive, comparative study was designed based on curriculum theory and used word count and content analyses to identify similarities and differences in the occurrence of MoPA in the ECEC policies of Nordic countries. Seven terms were identified as MoPA-related in Nordic policy documents. Joy in Motion is a nationwide physical activity and well-being programme aimed at early childhood education and care (ECEC) launched in 2015 in Finland. The aim is to enable every child to be physically active and enjoy physical activity every day. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin eräässä päiväkodissa opettajaparityöskentelynä toteutettua uudenlaista kaksikielistä toimintaa, josta tutkimuspäiväkodissa käytettiin nimitystä kie- lipajatoiminta. However, ECE teachers are struggling to integrate information and communication technology (ICT) and child-centered pedagogy, such as digital portfolios, successfully into practice. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan konsultoivien varhaiserityisopettajien yhteistyötä lapsen vanhempien kanssa. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten konsultoivat varhaiserityisopettajat toteuttavat perhelähtöistä työtä. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin, miten konsultoivan varhaiserityisopettajan mahdollisuus vaikuttaa omaan toimintatapaansa perheiden kanssa on yhteydessä työn perhelähtöisyyteen. This study examined talk by parents about the early years transitions of their children (n = 7) in the context of parental non-standard working hours and Finnish early childhood education and care (ECEC) services. Parents were interviewed at three time points: when their child was aged one, four, five or six years (a total of 21 interviews). The third interview was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Pyrkimys autonomisuuteen on yksi ihmisen psykologisista perustarpeista, joka alkaa kehittyä noin kahdesta ikävuodesta eteenpäin. Autonomiaa on kuitenkin tutkittu empiirisesti hyvin vähän varhaiskasvatuksen kontekstissa. Tarkastelemme tässä laadullisessa tutkimuksessa 4–5-vuotiaiden lasten autonomiaa päiväkodissa lastentarhanopettajien näkökulmasta havainnointien ja haastatteluiden sekä lastentarhanopettajien päiväkirjojen ja kirjoitelmien kautta.
