From being ignored to engaging in dialogue : Young boys' narratives of children's participation in child–parent conflicts

This paper examines children's opportunities to participate in everyday child–parent conflicts as revealed in young boys' fictional narratives. The data were collected from 19 boys aged 3–6 years using the Story Magician's Play Time method. Narrative analysis yielded four story types: ignored participation stories, parent-directed participation stories, child-directed participation stories and dialogical participation stories. The study illustrates that when considering children's participation in child–parent conflicts, differences between children in their opportunities to participate in resolving conflicts should be taken into account. On the other hand, current campaigns of nutritional information try to modify food behaviours by making people aware of the dangers of over eating and providing guidelines for healthy eating behaviour. The purpose of this paper is to present selected aspects of the relationship between the father’s absence and children’s well‑being. The article discusses the consequences of the father’s absence in the family, including the impoverishment of the family, children’s evaluation of their fathers, the health of mothers and newborn infants, lawbreaking by grown‑up children, teenage pregnancy, violence towards children, alcohol abuse, drugs, and school problems. It was found that fathers play an important role in children’s lives and their absence has a negative impact on their well‑being.

Mērķis. Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt iespējamo saikni starp pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu vispārējās veselības traucējumiem, mutes veselību ietekmējošiem kaitīgiem paradumiem un kariesa intensitāti. Metodes. Šo šķērsgriezuma pētījumu, kas notika 2017. un 2018.gadā, apstiprināja Latvijas Universitātes Ētikas Komisija. Kopējais dalībnieku skaits bija 158, vecumā starp 2 un 7 gadiem. Rakstiska piekrišana tika saņemta no vecākiem. Bērna vecāki aizpildīja aptaujas. Klīnisko apskati veica trīs zobārsti, kuriem asistēja grupa ar studentiem. The novel Wojciechowym szlakiem [On the Trail of St Adalbert] by Gertura Skotnicka stands out from other hagiographic works about this saint not only in terms of its size, but also as far as its composition and method of presenting this character are concerned. In contrast, the works by Ewa Skarżyńska and Andrzej Hartliński do not go beyond the established genre formula. Only Anna Czerwińska-Rydel uses an original idea, implementing in her story the motif of the Gniezno Doors. The Misdirection as Anxiety Reduction in Children from Venipuncture Procedure: A Randomized Study

The current literature show several distraction approaches to reduce anxiety in children during the painful procedure, as the venipuncture. This work explored the magician intervention effects in anxiety and in pain reduction among children who underwent the venipuncture procedure. Our results showed that the magician approach among nurses could effectively influence the children compliance who underwent a venipuncture without any particular cost for the healthcare system.
