Abstract This study examines influences on quality-of-life of national cultures as complex wholes and entrepreneurship activities in Brazil, Russia, India, China, Germany, and the United States (the six focal nations) plus Denmark (a small-size, economically-developed, nation). The study tests McClelland's (1961) and more recent scholars' proposition that some cultural configurations nurture entrepreneur startups while other cultures are biased toward thwarting startups. Individualized evaluation of health cost and health risks

Abstract This paper presents an individualized evaluation of the health costs and health risks of haze pollution by conduction channels and conduction strengths. Ordinal probit model and quantile regression are used to analyze data on individuals in Hangzhou, an environmental friendly city in China. The analyses yield four findings. First, in Hangzhou, haze pollution increases citizens' health spending by >2.49 billion US dollars. Second, health costs are mainly driven by increased risks of respiratory infection. Brands as relationship builders in the virtual world: A bibliometric analysis

Abstract Given the growing role of brands as relationship partners and relationship facilitators and the pre-eminence of the online environment for consumers, this article contributes to the understanding of virtual brand-centric relationships by presenting the first bibliometric mapping analysis of the academic research into the topic from its conception until 2018. Using keyword co-occurrence, it examines 585 records and identifies the most productive countries, journals, influential authors and papers, and research clusters. We characterize transitions between stochastically stable states and relative ergodic probabilities in the theory of the evolution of conventions. We give an application to the fall of hegemonies in the evolutionary theory of institutions and conflict, and illustrate the theory with the fall of the Qing dynasty and the rise of communism in China.

Abstract The tribological behaviour of the monolayer PVD-titanium aluminium nitride (TiAlN) coated carbide inserts in unidirectional dry sliding against steel and cast iron counterparts was investigated using the pin-on-disc standard test with varying sliding speeds and normal loads. Chapter 13 provides comprehensive knowledge regarding machinability of construction materials and characterizes various meanings of this specific material feature, allowing effective selection of machining conditions. Titanium alloys are materials with reduced formability, due to their low plasticity. However, today there are high demands regarding their use in the automotive industry and in bio-medical industry, for prosthetic devices. This paper presents some technological aspects regarding the machinability of titanium alloys by means of incremental forming. The research presented in this paper aimed to demonstrate that the parts made from these materials could be machined at room temperature, in certain technological conditions.
