Thermodynamic parameters of the interaction between Co(II) bovine carbonic anhydrase and anionic inhibitors

1992

The pH dependence of the apparent affinity constants of perchlorate for cobalt(II)bovine carbonic anhydrase II has been measured by electronic absorption spectroscopy. The obtained data have been analyzed in terms of the ionization of two acidic groups of CoBCAII, and the affinity of perchlorate for the two water-containing species of the enzyme have been estimated. Furthermore, the affinity constants of nitrate, perchlorate, and azide for CoBCAII in the temperature range 5 degrees C-30 degrees C have been determined by spectrophotometric titrations at pH 7. The affinity constants for these ligands decrease with increasing temperatures. The temperature dependence of binding was used to esti…

The role of lithium, perchlorate and water during electrochemical processes in poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) films in LiClO4 aqueous solutions

2021

Abstract Thin films of poly(3,4-ethylendioxythiophene) (PEDOT) were electrochemically deposited on gold electrodes in aqueous media. The role of perchlorate, lithium, and water during the charge/discharge of PEDOT films was investigated by cyclic voltammetry together with EQCM, vis − NIR spectroscopy, and acoustic impedance, also by means of ac-electrogravimetry in a 0.1 M LiCl O 4 aqueous solutions. In this way, it has been possible to correlate the electrical, mass, color and electromechanical properties changes during the electrochemical reactions of this polymer. Both, hydrated lithium cations and perchlorate anions can act as counterions during the electrochemical reactions, however, a…

Water and oxoanion encapsulation chemistry in a 1H-pyrazole azacryptand

2019

Anion complexes of the cryptand built with the tripodal amine tris(2-aminoethyl)amine, known as tren, with water and several oxoanions of biological and environmental interest (nitrate, sulfate, phosphate, perchlorate and arsenate) have been crystallized from aqueous solution and resolved with single-crystal X-ray diffraction. All crystals show guest species encapsulated in the interior of the cavity as well as, in some cases, sitting in the grooves defined by the arms of the macrocycle. Hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions play a major role in anion binding to the host. The macrocycle is able to encapsulate anions in a wide range of protonation degrees. Solution studies have bee…

Hydrolysis of dioxouranium(VI): a calorimetric study in NaClaq and NaClO4aq, at 25°C

2004

Abstract We report the results of a calorimetric study on the hydrolysis of UO 2 2+ in different ionic media (NaClO 4 aq , NaCl aq ) at 25 °C. Experiments in NaCl were performed at different ionic strength, at I ≤1 mol l −1 . The species considered in both ionic media were UO 2 (OH) + , (UO 2 ) 2 (OH) 2 2+ and (UO 2 ) 3 (OH) 5 + , and in addition (UO 2 ) 3 (OH) 4 2+ and (UO 2 ) 3 (OH) 7 − in NaCl aq . The dependence on ionic strength of enthalpy changes in NaCl aq was expressed by the simple linear equation Δ H pq =Δ H ° pq + aI 1/2 ( a , empirical parameter). Comparison with literature findings is given and some recommended values are reported.

Study of the interaction between [Cu(bipy)]2+ and oxalate in dimethyl sulfoxide. Crystal structure of [Cu2(bipy)2(H2O)2ox]SO4·[Cu(bipy)ox]

1991

Abstract A study of complex formation between [Cu(bipy)]2+ and ox2− (bipy and ox2− being 2,2′-bipyridyl and the dianion of oxalic acid), has been carried out by potentiometry in dimethyl sulfoxide solution. The constants of the equilibria and are log β110 = 11.165(1) and log β210 = 13.185(5) at 25 °C and 0.1 mol dm−3 tetra-n- butylammonium perchlorate. The high values of these constants are consistent with the symmetrical bidentate and bis-bidentate modes of oxalate in [Cu(bipy)ox] and [Cu2(bipy)2ox]2+ units, respectively, as shown by X-ray diffraction studies. Well-formed single crystals of [Cu2(bipy)2(H2O)2ox]SO4· [Cu(bipy)ox] were grown from aqueous solutions and characterized by X-ray d…

Copper(II)-assisted hydrolysis of 2,4,6-tris(2-pyrimidyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tpymt): syntheses, crystal structures and magnetic properties of [Cu(bpcam)…

2005

Abstract The reaction of the 2,4,6-tris(2-pyrimidyl)-1,3,5-triazine (tpymt) ligand with copper(II) perchlorate or sulfate in aqueous solution affords complexes [Cu(bpcam)(H2O)2]ClO4 · 3H2O (1), [Cu(bpcam)(H2O)2][Cu(bpcam)(H2O)(SO4)] · 2H2O (2) and [Cu2(bpcam)2(H2O)2(SO4)] · H2O (3) [bpcam = bis(2-pyrimidylcarbonyl)amidate], whose structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Copper(II) promotes the hydrolysis of tpymt in mild conditions yielding the bpcam group which is present in the structures of 1–3 as a tridentate ligand. The structure of 1 consists of mononuclear [Cu(bpcam)(H2O)2]+ cations, uncoordinated perchlorate anions and water of crystallization. Th…
