Strategic Variables that Influence Entry Mode Choice in Service Firms

This work investigates how a firm's international strategy affects choice of entry mode in the service sector. The inherent complexity associated with studying a heterogeneous sector such as services requires researchers to investigate variables that go beyond those drawn from traditional empirical work on the manufacturing sector. Although it was predicted that bank branches would quickly become obsolete in a computerized society, the reality is that many full‐service branches are not closing but rather evolving to meet changing needs. The role of the branch manager is crucial, and is also changing. In particular, managers are expected to take a lead in marketing activities. Animals can acquire behaviours from others, including heterospecifics, but should be discriminating in when and whom to copy. Successful individuals should be preferred as tutors, while adopting traits of poorly performing individuals should be actively avoided. Thus far it is unknown if such adaptive strategies are involved when individuals copy other species. Our research focuses on the emotional and axiological determinants of investment choice in equity crowdfunding. We defend the thesis of a projects choice determined in part by the values and emotions of the individual investor. Our literature review is transversal to several fields of social sciences. Thus, the established theoretical framework articulates finance, marketing, HRM and psychology. Genetic compatibility and sexual selection

In a recent review in TREE [1], Mays and Hill discuss the interface between sexual selection for good genes (i.e. female choice based on traits indicating heritable fitness) and sexual selection for genetic compatibility (i.e. how well the genes of the parents function together in their offspring). We feel that the scope of their contribution is somewhat limited, primarily because they implicitly equate genetic compatibility with genetic dissimilarity. Compatibility does, however, not equal dissimilarity.
