Two Meson Scattering Amplitudes and their Resonances from Chiral Symmetry and the N/D Method

1999

We study the vector and scalar meson-meson amplitudes up to \sqrt{s}\lesssim 1.4 GeV and their associated spectroscopy. The study has been done considering jointly the N/D method, Chiral Symmetry and implications from large N_c QCD. The N/D method provides us with the way to unitarize the tree level amplitudes constructed in agreement with Chiral Symmetry and its breaking (explicit and spontaneous). These amplitudes are calculated making use of the lowest order Chiral Perturbation Theory (\chiPT) Lagrangians and the exchanges of resonances compatible with Chiral Symmetry as given in. On the other hand the large N_c considerations allow us to distinguish between elementary (as elementary as …

Quantum loops in the Resonance Chiral Theory: improving the vector form factor

2006

Quantum loops in the Resonance Chiral Theory are needed to improve the implementation of non-perturbative QCD. Furthermore, the one-loop computations can predict chiral low-energy couplings at next-to-leading order, a very appealing task. We present a first calculation of the vector form factor of the pion at subleading order in the 1/N_C expansion. From the analysis of the result at large energies we justify the requirement of considering short-distance constraints from form factors with resonances in the final state. The long-distance limit of our results allows to get a next-to-leading order estimate of \ell_6.

Two-loop Anomalous Dimensions of Heavy Baryon Currents in Heavy Quark Effective Theory

1996

We present results on the two-loop anomalous dimensions of the heavy baryon HQET currents $J=(q^TC\Gamma\tau q)\Gamma'Q$ with arbitrary Dirac matrices $\Gamma$ and $\Gamma'$. From our general result we obtain the two-loop anomalous dimensions for currents with quantum numbers of the ground state heavy baryons $\Lambda_Q$, $\Sigma_Q$ and $\Sigma_Q^*$. As a by-product of our calculation and as an additional check we rederive the known two-loop anomalous dimensions of mesonic scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial vector and tensor currents $(J=\bar q\Gamma q)$ in massless QCD as well as in HQET.

Results on longitudinal spin physics at COMPASS

2016

Abstract The COMPASS experiment at the CERN SPS has taken data for deep inelastic scattering of polarised muons off a polarised NH3 target in 2007 and 2011 and off a polarised 6LiD target in 2002–2004 and 2006. We present our new results on the longitudinal double spin asymmetry A 1 p and the spin-dependent structure function g 1 p obtained from the 2011 data set. These results are used in a NLO QCD fit to the world data to obtain the polarised parton distributions. Also an update on our results on the Bjorken sum rule, connecting the integral of the non-singlet spin-dependent structure function with the ratio of the weak coupling constants, is given. The gluon polarisation can be accessed …

Antisymmetric tensors in holographic approaches to QCD

2010

We study real (massive) antisymmetric tensors of rank two in holographic models of QCD based on the gauge/string duality. Our aim is to understand in detail how the anti-de Sitter/conformal field theory correspondence describes correlators with tensor currents in QCD. To this end we study a set of bootstrapped correlators with spin-1 vector and tensor currents, imposing matching to QCD at the partonic level. We show that a consistent description of this set of correlators yields a very predictive picture. For instance, it imposes strong constraints on infrared boundary conditions and precludes the introduction of dilatonic backgrounds as a mechanism to achieve linear confinement. Additional…

The b-quark mass from non-perturbative Nf=2 Heavy Quark Effective Theory at O(1/mh)

2014

Abstract We report our final estimate of the b-quark mass from N f = 2 lattice QCD simulations using Heavy Quark Effective Theory non-perturbatively matched to QCD at O ( 1 / m h ) . Treating systematic and statistical errors in a conservative manner, we obtain m ¯ b MS ¯ ( 2 GeV ) = 4.88 ( 15 ) GeV after an extrapolation to the physical point.

Measurement of the strong coupling constant alfa_s from global event-shape variables of hadronic Z decays

1991

Abstract An analysis of global event-shape variables has been carried out for the reaction e+e−→Z0→hadrons to measure the strong coupling constant αs. This study is based on 52 720 hadronic events obtained in 1989/90 with the ALEPH detector at the LEP collider at energies near the peak of the Z-resonance. In order to determine αs, second order QCD predictions modified by effects of perturbative higher orders and hadronization were fitted to the experimental distributions of event-shape variables. From a detailed analysis of the theoretical uncertainties we find that this approach is best justified for the differential two-jet rate, from which we obtain αs(MZ2) = 0.121 ± 0.002(stat.)±0.003(s…

Prospects for charged current deep-inelastic scattering off polarized nucleons at a future electron-ion collider

2013

We present a detailed phenomenological study of charged-current-mediated deep-inelastic scattering off longitudinally polarized nucleons at a future Electron-Ion Collider. A new version of the event generator package DJANGOH, extended by capabilities to handle processes with polarized nucleons, is introduced and used to simulate charged current deep-inelastic scattering including QED, QCD, and electroweak radiative effects. We carefully explore the range of validity and the accuracy of the Jacquet-Blondel method to reconstruct the relevant kinematic variables from the measured hadronic final state in charged current events, assuming realistic detector performance parameters. Finally, we est…
