Thymus vulgaris subsp. mansanetianus subsp. nov. (Lamiaceae)

RESUMEN: Se describe una nueva subespecie de Thymus vulgaris L. (Lamiaceae); Th. vulgaris subsp. mansanetianus subsp. nov., caracterizada por presentar un hábito postrado, tallos estoloníferos, decumbentes y radicantes, hojas muy estrechas y una floración otoñal. ABSTRACT: Thymus vulgaris subsp. mansanetianus subsp. nov. (Lamiaceae). A new subspecies of Thymus vulgaris L. (Lamiaceae); Th. vulgaris subsp. mansanetianus subsp. nov. is described. This new subspecies is characterized by its prostrate habit, stoloniferous stems, prostrate and rooting at the nodes, very narrow leaves, autumn flowering period.

Sobre los tipos nomenclaturales de dos táxones de Rhamnus (Rhamnaceae) de la flora valenciana

Se designan los tipos nomenclaturales de dos taxones del género Rhamnus descritos de las comarcas valencianas. Por un lado, se lectotipifica el nombre Rh. lycioides var. pubescens Rouy −sinónimo de Rh. lycioides subsp. borgiae Rivas Mart. & J.M. Pizarro−, a partir del material original recolectado en las montañas de Játiva (Valencia). Por otro, se considera que el neótipo recientemente designado para el nombre Rh. valentina Willd. −sinónimo de Rh. pumila L.−, debería aceptarse realmente como un lectótipo. Nuevo taxon del género Galium L. (Sect. Leptogalium Lange) para el Sistema Ibérico

Se describe una nueva especie, Galium javalambrense López Udias, G. Mateo & M.B. Crespo (sect. Leptogalium), propia de las zonas culminales del Sistema Ibérico. Se discuten sus afinidades con especies cercanas, destacándose los caracteres que permiten una fácil identificación. Finalmente, se ofrecen datos sobre su ecología y hábitat más representativo. A new species, Galium javalambrense López Udias, G. Mateo & M.B. Crespo (sect. Leptogalium) is described from the summits of Sistema Ibérico (E of Spain). Its affinities to other related taxa are discussed, namely those characteristics allowing easy identification. Finally, data on ecology and main habitat of the new species are also reported.

Two species of heterophyid trematodes were found in the Magellanic penguin, Spheniscus magellanicus (Forster), from Patagonia, Argentina. Ascocotyle (Ascocotyle) patagoniensis Hernández-Orts et al. (2012) is re-described based on new, properly fixed specimens (original material from South American sea lion, Otaria flavescens Shaw, was from frozen hosts). Metacercariae of this species are reported and described for the first time from the heart of the silversides, Odontesthes argentinensis (Valenciennes) and O. smitti (Lahille), from Patagonia. Background: In South America, fascioliasis stands out due to the human endemic areas in many countries. In Argentina, human endemic areas have recently been detected. Lymnaeid vectors were studied in two human endemic localities of Catamarca province: Locality A beside Taton and Rio Grande villages; Locality B close to Recreo town. Methods: Lymnaeids were characterised by the complete sequences of rDNA ITS-2 and ITS-1 and fragments of the mtDNA 16S and cox1. In this paper we report an investigation of the utility of coprological analysis as an alternative technique to study parasite specificity whenever host sampling is problematic; acanthocephalans from marine mammals were used as a model. A total of 252 scats from the South American sea lion, Otaria flavescens, and rectal faeces from 43 franciscanas, Pontoporia blainvillei, from Buenos Aires Province, were examined for acanthocephalans. Specimens of two species, i.e. Corynosoma australe and C. cetaceum, were collected from both host species. A new species of Ascocotyle (Trematoda: Heterophyidae) from the South American sea lion, Otaria flavescens, off Patagonia, Argentina.

We describe a new heterophyid species, Ascocotyle (Ascocotyle) patagoniensis n. sp., based on specimens collected from the intestines of the South American sea lion Otaria flavescens from Patagonia (Argentina). Ascocotyle (A.) patagoniensis n. sp. is distinguished from the other species of the subgenus by the number of circumoral spines, which are arranged in 2 rows of 18 to 23. The new species also differs from the other species in having a gonotyl without papillae. The specimens exhibited the widest seminal receptacle described for a species of this subgenus.
