Prospective analysis of the influence of sport and educational factors on the prevalence and initiation of smoking in older adolescents from Croatia

2017

The prevalence of smoking among Croatian adolescents is alarmingly high, but no previous study has prospectively examined the sport- and academic-factors associated with smoking and smoking initiation. This study aimed to prospectively examine the associations between scholastic (educational) achievement and sport factors and smoking in 16- to 18-year-old adolescents. This two-year prospective cohort study included 644 adolescents who were 16 years of age at baseline (46% females). Baseline testing was implemented at the beginning of the 3rd year of high school (September 2014) when participants were 16 years old. Il ruolo dell'organizzazione criminale nel contrasto al traffico di tabacchi lavorati esteri

2020

This article concerns the study of the reasons that found the Italian regulations of smuggling of foreign manufactured tobacco products, with the purpose to assess its reasonableness and efficacy. The norms set by articles 291 bis, ter and quarter of the Consolidated Customs Law Act (Testo Unico delle Leggi Doganali) is a normative unicum in the European landscape due to the detail and rigour of its sanctions and precisely because of this, it attracts the interpreters’ interest. Such peculiarity finds its reason of existence in the need to contrast the organised crime in the sector, need that permeates the cited norms to such an extent that it also reverberates on the individual offence, st…

Sāls nikotīna bāzes tvaicēšanas ietekme uz zobu krāsas maiņu

2022

Effectiveness of dentist's intervention in smoking cessation: a review

2016

Introduction: Smoking is one of the main public health problems in developed countries. Despite extensive evidence on the effects of smoking on both oral and general health, the rate of smoking cessation is not promising. Material and Methods: To review the evidence on knowledge and programs for smoking cessation developed by dentists, a literature review was carried out on programs for smoking cessation from the dentist’s perspective, as well as a review of behavioral guidelines that have been recently proposed for these interventions. We used the keywords “Tobacco”, “Smoking Prevention”, “Public Health” AND “Dentistry”, to identify controlled studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses …

Does Smoking Cessation at Primary Diagnosis Reduce the Recurrence Risk of Nonmuscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer? Results of a Prospective Study.

2020

Introduction: Evidence that smoking cessation at first diagnosis of nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) reduces the risk of recurrence is lacking. The aim of our prospective study was to analyze the association between patients’ changes in smoking habits after diagnosis and recurrence-free survival (RFS). Patients: After transurethral resection of primary NMIBC, patients were classified as “ex-smokers,” i.e., those definitively stopping, and as “active smokers,” i.e., those continuing or restarting to smoke. Smoking status was reassessed every 3 months during the first year and every 6 months thereafter. Data …
