Fragment reconstruction of coronary arteries using transesophageal echocardiography for coronary diagnostics

Aims Ultrasound differs procedurally from the established methods for non-invasive coronary visualization and is therefore an interesting alternative for non-invasive diagnostics. In this study, fragment reconstruction of coronary arteries by transesophageal echocardiography (FRC-TEE) was investigated for the first time in a patient population being evaluated for coronary angiography. Vaginal reconstruction with bilateral island "extended" groin flaps: description of a personal technique.

We propose a vaginal reconstruction method using two island "extended" groin flaps designed over the iliac crests and in axis with the superficial circumflex iliac arteries. After a surgical revision of the pelvic organs and dissection of the area between the bladder and the rectum, the two flaps pass, extraperitoneally by way of the abdomen, through an incision made along the lateral margin of the rectus muscle and, from before to behind, through the fibrovascular lamina lateral to the bladder, and finally are placed in the area between the bladder and the rectum, where they are sutured. At quantitative coronary angiography treatment of ostial lesions was associated with higher residual stenosis (30% [23-41] vs. 26% [20-37] p= 0.035) but no difference in minimum lumen diameter existed (p= 0.447). Follow-up data were available at 385 [362-465] days. Noninvasive Visualization of an Apparent Patent Intracoronary Stent by Transesophageal Echocardiography

In the area of increasing interventional techniques there is a need for noninvasive imaging modalities to provide postinterventional follow-up. We were able to visualize the apparent patency and measure the dimensions of an intracoronary Palmaz-Schatz stent in the left circumflex coronary artery using transesophageal two-dimensional echocardiography. This report indicates the potential of echocardiography to directly assess coronary stents.
