Time-dependent ground-state correlations in heavy ion scattering
1982
Using a time-dependent generator-coordinate method, we derive a theory for time-dependent collective ground-state correlations which account for some quantum fluctuations about a TDHF trajectory. This theory is particularly suited for evaluating spreading widths of collective one-body operators. As an application we study head-on collision of heavy ions in a one-dimensional model. As one of the prominent results we find a substantial enhancement of the spreading width of the internal excitation energy due to the correlations.
A sampling method for detecting buried objects using electromagnetic scattering
2005
We consider a simple (but fully three-dimensional) mathematical model for the electromagnetic exploration of buried, perfect electrically conducting objects within the soil underground. Moving an electric device parallel to the ground at constant height in order to generate a magnetic field, we measure the induced magnetic field within the device, and factor the underlying mathematics into a product of three operations which correspond to the primary excitation, some kind of reflection on the surface of the buried object(s) and the corresponding secondary excitation, respectively. Using this factorization we are able to give a justification of the so-called sampling method from inverse scat…
Half a century of Anales de Pediatría. Evolution of its main bibliometric indicators in the Web of Science and Scopus international databases
2019
Purpose: To analyze the coverage and main bibliometric indicators of Anales de Pediatría in Scopus and Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science (SCIE) databases. Material and method: The evolution of the journal production was identified according to the document types, collaboration indexes between authors and institutions, and citations, and impact indicators (number of citations, impact factor, 5-years impact factor and without self-citations, Scimago Journal Rank, quartile, h-index and most cited works). Results: A total of 10,128 papers were included in Scopus (a mean of around 225 per year) and 1861 in SCIE (a mean of around 207 per year). The index of collaboration was 4…

Impacto científico y contextualización bibliométrica de la Pediatría respecto a otras áreas temáticas
2020
[EN]: [Introduction] The purpose of this paper is twofold. On the one hand, to identify and characterise the indicators of production, citation, impact and collaboration of the Pediatrics area of the Journal Citation Reports, and on the other, to place the journal Anales de Pediatría in the context of the Spanish journals of another twenty areas and medical specialties. [Material and Method] The sources of information used to obtain the indicators were Science Citation Index- Expanded, Journal Citation Reports and Scimago Journal & Country Rank. A regression analysis was performed to check the correlation between the citation and other variables. [Results] Pediatrics ranked 8th in scientifi…

Ionization and scintillation response of high-pressure xenon gas to alpha particles
2013
High-pressure xenon gas is an attractive detection medium for a variety of applications in fundamental and applied physics. In this paper we study the ionization and scintillation detection properties of xenon gas at 10 bar pressure. For this purpose, we use a source of alpha particles in the NEXT-DEMO time projection chamber, the large scale prototype of the NEXT-100 neutrinoless double beta decay experiment, in three different drift electric field configurations. We measure the ionization electron drift velocity and longitudinal diffusion, and compare our results to expectations based on available electron scattering cross sections on pure xenon. In addition, two types of measurements add…
Luminescence spectra and decay kinetics in ZnWO4 and CdWO4 crystals
2004
The luminescence spectra and luminescence decay kinetics in ZnWO4 (nominal pure and doped with Fe and Mo) under pulsed electron beam and pulsed nitrogen laser excitation have been investigated. It is suggested that the two-stage intrinsic luminescence decay observed under ionizing radiation excitation in ZnWO4 and CdWO4 was due to two different self-trapped exciton (STE) configurations in these crystals. The role of Fe and Mo impurities for scintillation efficiency in ZnWO4 and CdWO4 has been discussed. (© 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
The Temperature Dependence of Scintillation Parameters in PbWO4 Crystals
1997
The luminescence spectra, decay kinetics and yield of luminescence in undoped PbWO 3 crystals were studied after pulsed electron beam irradiation. The rise time of luminescence pulses shows that two mechanisms - excitonic and recombination - were involved in luminescence center excited state formation. It is proposed that excited states of WO 3 and WO 2- 4 luminescence centers were formed from some metastable state, possibly from Pb related excitation.
A Ferrite Tubular Linear Permanent Magnet Generator (FTLPMG) analysis and design
2014
Several linear synchronous generators for the exploitation of sea wave energy have been proposed. Such machines do not require reactive power for the magnetization since they use permanent magnets for the excitation. The use of permanent magnets in a rough environment such as the marine environment may be a very weak point in the application of these kind of devices. In order to overcome this difficulty, the authors in this paper propose a linear synchronous electrical generator. Its excitation uses ferrites as suitable solutions to extract energy from sea waves. This paper describes the analysis and design of an improved axially magnetized tubular permanent-magnet machine in which several …
