The Village Action Association of Finland (SYTY) organizes the Village of the Year competition annually to award active rural communities. The competition has taken place since 1985, but after the village action movement was integrated into Finnish rural policy networks in the 1990s, it also became a part of rural policy instruments. The competition can be considered a governing technique that constructs norms and an ideal model for rural communities to pursue. Identifying territories using presence-only citizen science data : An application to the Finnish wolf population

Citizens, community groups and local institutions participate in voluntary biological monitoring of population status and trends by providing species data e.g. for regulations and conservation. Sophisticated statistical methods are required to unlock the potential of such data in the assessment of wildlife populations. We develop a statistical modelling framework for identifying territories based on presence-only citizen science data. The applicability of Web 2.0 as an e-Government tool is still a fully unexploited area due to the software novelty in this regard and the lack of commitment of public bodies. The current paper sets out to offer a solution to acknowledge information of public interest that might be of use to an e-Citizen. Currently, social networks have proven useful in keeping in touch with friends, research, collaboration and political activism. Data mining through social network is a relatively new subject, which has been intensely approached by researchers as of late. The results presented in the current paper have been obtained using a crawler on Twitter.

The crisis of values, authority and identity that affects contemporary Europe encourages the Church to act that will protect Christians from axiological and morał degradation. One of the areas that can do this through their methods is Catholic social teaching. The article is a presentation of the most important assumptions of Catholic social science and an indication of how concepts of the nation and State together with goals and rights and obligations should be implemented so that both the Citizen and the rulers can strive for the common good.
