From part to point cloud, the modelling of a 3D part
2019
The present paper focuses on the development of the composite materials in the automotiv industry by making a comparative analysis between a 3D model of the part and a real part made by a composite material, measuring the part using the point cloud. The aim is to obtain a high modeling and a more clear visualization of the composite material part.
Study on the opening of a new working place in Romania of an European expedition house
2019
The present paper aims to carry out the case study on the possibility of opening a new working point of Englmayer Spedition GMBH in Dolj County. Starting from the current situation of Sibiu’s work point and based on the results of the measurements, the necessity of opening a new working point is demonstrated. Englmayer is a transport and delivery company headquartered in Austria, with many work points in Europe including 5 terminals in Romania. The case study includes the presentation of the current situation on the Sibiu work point, followed by the calculations required to highlight the need to open a new work point in Dolj county. This new working point will take over part of the daily wo…
A NEW TOOL FOR THE STUDY OF RESONANCE IN CHEMICAL EDUCATION
2014
The objective of this study is to present a computer-based project, for which our program POLAR and our version of PAPID were written for the study of the subject of resonance in chemistry. Both algorithms allow a better didactic strategy and methodological adaptation for the study of molecular properties in chemical education. Teachers will find the options of POLAR and PAPID useful for demonstrations. It is still to be explored the methodological application of these computational programs enriching the present teaching techniques. Implementing new algorithms in learning situations is technically simple, but checking their usefulness in teaching practice is extraordinarily complex and req…
APPLICATIONS OF DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS AND SIMILARITY THEORY IN HYDRAULICS
2018
Technological process, however complex, can be broken down into a succession of distinct component processes, in which the input materials undergo changes in shape (mechanical processes), pressure, temperature, concentration, state of aggregation (physical processes) or structure molecular (chemical and biochemical processes). The unitary operations of most process phases in process industries are based on three fundamental processes: pulse transfer, heat transfer, and mass transfer
Metallographical Aspects of the Application of Special Paint Layers for the Protection of Machine Part Sections against the Effect of lonitriding
2019
The paper presents aspects concerning the appreciation of the protection through special paints based on copper powders used against plasma nitriding. First of all the choice of copper is motivated as an important metallic component of protecting paints, with the characteristics that the copper presents in the context of the physical and chemical phenomena (from the cathode and from gas volume) specific for the ionic nitriding process. The paper contains comparatively some characteristics (the duration of drying on the coat, the compatibility of the components, the capacity of extension and of avoiding the leakage, the power of covering, the capacity of joining, and the emitting of gases, t…
Optimizing artificial neural networks for the evaluation of asphalt pavement structural performance
2019
Artificial Neural Networks represent useful tools for several engineering issues. Although they were adopted in several pavement-engineering problems for performance evaluation, their application on pavement structural performance evaluation appears to be remarkable. It is conceivable that defining a proper Artificial Neural Network for estimating structural performance in asphalt pavements from measurements performed through quick and economic surveys produces significant savings for road agencies and improves maintenance planning. However, the architecture of such an Artificial Neural Network must be optimised, to improve the final accuracy and provide a reliable technique for enriching d…
MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS FOR EVALUATING THE EFFECTS OF WEDM CUTTING PARAMETERS
2020
Wire Electrical Discharge Machining is a cutting method used for obtaining parts with complex geometries or for cutting hard metals. In machining processes, it is necessary to obtain the desired surface quality in order to produce parts providing the required functioning. The surface quality also defines some mechanical properties of the product, such as wear resistance. Being such a considerable quality, surface quality is influenced by various parameters. It will be costly and time consuming to acquire the knowledge of appropriate cutting parameters. Unconventional technologies have not been sufficiently studied so far to provide such details. So, this рарer ѕeekѕ to emрhаѕіze the іmрortа…
Effect of Stacking Sequence and Sodium Bicarbonate Treatment on Quasi-Static and Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Flax/Jute Epoxy-Based Composites
2019
The present paper deals with the investigation of quasi-static and dynamic mechanical response of epoxy-based composites reinforced with flax and/or jute plain weave fabrics. In order to evaluate the influence of the stacking sequence, two monolithic laminates reinforced with flax or jute fibers and two hybrid flax/jute laminates were manufactured through the vacuum infusion technique. Furthermore, an eco-friendly and cost-effective surface treatment based on fiber soaking in a sodium bicarbonate solution was employed to improve the fiber-matrix adhesion. The mechanical characterization (by means of quasi-static flexural, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis and Charpy impact tests) allowed …
Comparative study between different methods for the efficiency of the production activity in the wood industry
2017
Generally speaking, the quality and cost of goods and in particular of the wood products is a decisive condition in their sales on the market, attracting buyers to satisfy their wishes and requirements. Starting from the general idea, by which it is considered that the manufacturing activity is effective if production is obtained at maximum quality with a low (minimum) cost, or when the revenue from the sale of products exceeds the market expenditure which is necessary to achieve it, this research article aims to study ways to make production more efficient by methods which could also be applied in the wood industry, by presenting a comparative study on production optimization methods in th…
Research on the machining process modeling of a rotational mold using CAM applications
2021
Rotational molding is a unique process, with a high growth rate, which allows the use of geometries and materials adapted to particular needs. It is superior to other manufacturing methods in terms of low cost, break-even point and size of parts that can be manufactured. Rotational molding products are often a substitute, with a lower mass, for traditionally used materials. In this scientific paper it is analyzed the recent literature related to the field of rotational molding processes. It also addresses the issue of processing a rotational mold, with the main purpose of optimizing the cutting regime. In this context, it is highlighted the way of processing the surface of the outer mold ba…
