Complex power distribution analysis in plates covered with passive constrained layer damping patches

2012

International audience; The vibration of a plate partially covered with a passive constrained layer damping (PCLD) patch is studied from an energetic point of view. The damped plate is excited by an acoustic plane wave. The study is done with a numerical two-dimensional multilayer plate model. Results of the present model are compared to those obtained with three-dimensional finite element models. It is shown that the present model gives accurate results, even for the layer's inner behavior. It is less expansive in terms of computational cost; hence, it can simulate efficiently the structure for higher frequencies. Mathematical formulas for complex mechanical power are presented, and the li…

Dynamic stability of plane elastic frames

1982

Abstract The stability of plane elastic frames subjected to a vertical foundation motion of the stationary, ergodic type is investigated. The equations of motion are obtained in modal co-ordinates, with account taken of many modes of vibration. The problem is subsequently reduced to the study of only the first mode of vibration. By considering a particular case, the stability domains are sketched as functions of the variation of the rigidities of the beam-column connecting joints and as functions of the number of stories.

Calculation of the chemical potential and the activity coefficient of two layers of CO2 adsorbed on a graphite surface.

2014

We study the adsorption of carbon dioxide at a graphite surface using the new Small System Method, and find that for the temperature range between 300 K and 550 K most relevant for CO2 separation; adsorption takes place in two distinct thermodynamic layers defined according to Gibbs. We calculate the chemical potential and the activity coefficient of both layers directly from the simulations. Based on thermodynamic relations, the entropy and enthalpy of the CO2 adsorbed layers are also obtained. Their values indicate that there is a trade-off between entropy and enthalpy when a molecule chooses for one of the two layers. The first layer is a densely packed monolayer of relatively constant e…

Thermodynamic Characterization Of Two Layers Of CO2 On A Graphite Surface

2014

We find by examination of density profiles that carbon dioxide adsorbs on graphite in two distinct layers. We report the activity coefficient, entropy and enthalpy for CO2 in each layer using a convenient computational method, the Small System Method, thereby extending this method to surfaces. This opens up the possibility to study thermodynamic properties for a wide range of surface phenomena. © 2014 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. La transformación de DICAT: el potencial de la visualización digital de redes para el teatro clásico español

2021

This paper analyses and proposes the steps to transform Diccionario biográfico de actores del teatro clásico español DICAT in order to be federated on ASODAT system of databases. We intend to assess whether or not the visualization of nets may be a useful and operational tool to analysing the biographical and professional information established between actors and actress of early modern Spanish theater, and to show patterns of social relation. Este artículo analiza y propone los pasos para transformar el Diccionario biográfico de actores del teatro clásico español DICAT para que pueda ser federado en el sistema de bases de datos ASODAT. Se pretende evaluar si la visualización de redes pued…

Intellectual Capital and Company Value

2014

AbstractThe bulk of traditional corporate valuation methods reflect historical performance, while it is necessary to also take into consideration the value which is off-balance-sheet and possible growth. Large differences exist between company market and book value, and a part of this can be explained by intellectual capital. The aim of the study is to make an empirical investigation of the impact of intellectual capital on company value. Empirical results show that one can find mixed results regarding relationship between value added intellectual coefficient VAICTM and company value.

Semiclassical approximation in the magnetic problem of exchange-coupled mixed valence clusters

1994

Abstract The frameworks of the applicability of the semiclassical adiabatic approach suggested by Borras-Almenar, Coronado and Tsukerblat to the magnetic problem of mixed valence clusters are considered in a model taking into account magnetic exchange, double exchange and vibronic interaction. The results for the quantum-mechanical and semicalssical calculation of the temperature-variable magnetic moments are compared with those within the scope of the semiclassical approximation for the dimeric d 1 —d 2 clusters and trimeric d 1 —d 1 —d 2 systems with partial delocalization over a pair of ions. The semiclassical approach describes with high accuracy the temperature dependencies of the magn…

Adiabatic evolution of quantum-mechanical systems

1991

A description of the adiabatic approximation in terms of the time-evolution operator is presented. Corrections to the approximation are studied, and it is seen that these can be obtained in a simple way in the case of a rapidly oscillating Hamiltonian.

Geometric factors in the adiabatic evolution of classical systems

1992

Abstract The adiabatic evolution of the classical time-dependent generalized harmonic oscillator in one dimension is analyzed in detail. In particular, we define the adiabatic approximation, obtain a new derivation of Hannay's angle requiring no averaging principle and point out the existence of a geometric factor accompanying changes in the adiabatic invariant.

Music in the moment? Revisiting the effect of large scale structures.

2007

The psychological relevance of large-scale musical structures has been a matter of debate in the music community. This issue was investigated with a method that allows assessing listeners' detection of musical incoherencies in normal and scrambled versions of popular and contemporary music pieces. Musical excerpts were segmented into 28 or 29 chunks. In the scrambled version, the temporal order of these chunks was altered with the constraint that the transitions between two chunks never created local acoustical and musical disruptions. Participants were required (1) to detect on-line incoherent linking of chunks, (2) to rate aesthetic quality of pieces, and (3) to evaluate their overall co…
