The history of the parishioners’ right to participate in and influence the choice of local clergy in Sweden and Finland can be taken back as far as the late Medieval Times. The procedures for electing clergymen are described in historiography as a specifically Nordic feature and as creating the basis of local self-government. In this article the features of local self-government are studied in a context where the scope for action was being modified. W artykule przedstawiony został casus jednego z zakonników Kościoła Katolickiego. Zdaniem autora przypadek ten dobrze ilustruje realia, w jakich przyszło żyć duchowieństwu w Polskiej Rzeczypospolitej Ludowej. Wojciech Kloc, ze Zgromadzenia Braci Albertynów, prowadził handel dewocjonaliami w celu zarobienia pieniędzy na remont dachu domu zakonnego. Z tego powodu został zatrzymany przez milicję przed jednym z kościołów w Kędzierzynie (powiat kozielski), gdzie odebrano mu dewocjonalia, którymi handlował oraz pieniądze, które przy nim znaleziono. Recent revelations of the extent of sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church in Germany and the United States have once more triggered the debate about sexual abuse. Those inquiries identify cases that are known to authorities or have been recorded in these institutions.
