Background Sclerostin is an osteocyte-specific factor that binds to low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 5 (LRP5) inhibiting the Wnt signaling pathway and possibly contributing to the pathogenesis of Ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Subclinical gut inflammation observed in AS patients is characterized by the presence of dysbiosis and innate immune alterations. SummaryA study was carried out in 10 patients with vascular atherosclerotic disease to investigate the effects of a single dose of 300 mg pentoxifylline, given by intravenous infusion over 30 minutes, on various macrorheological and nzicrorheological parameters. Fifty six patients with arteriosclerosis cerebri confirmed by X-rays examinations were clinically and angiographically studied. Calcifications of the carotid artery were found predominantly in human beings between the ages of 55 and 65 and more often among men than among women, the proportion being 2.5 to 1.
