Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive method for the assessment of optic nerve fibers and retinal ganglion cells. This study was aimed at the assessment of retinal abnormalities in multiple sclerosis patients in the context of chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency using OCT of the retina and the optic nerve. BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to evaluate the achievement of 'no evidence of disease activity' (NEDA) over a 12-month period in a large multicenter population with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) treated with delayed-release dimethyl fumarate (DMF) and teriflunomide (TRF) using a propensity-score adjustment. SCOPO DEL LAVORO Presentiamo un caso di una paziente di 24 anni che giunge alla nostra attenzione per la comparsa di disartria come quadro clinico d’esordio di una forma aggressiva di malattia demielinizzante di cui si valuta l’atipica evoluzione neuroradiologica delle lesioni pseudotumorali che la caratterizzano e le possibili diagnosi differenziali. La sclerosi multipla, malattia infiammatoria-demielinizzante a decorso cronico, determina forti vissuti piscologici negativi ed è resa invalidante dall'imprevedibilità della sintomatologia, nonchè dalla progressiva disabilità. E' stata realizzata una ricerca-intervento finalizzata ad approfondire l'evoluzione delle condizioni di salute in donne con sclerosi multipla e a determinare il ruolo di variabili psicosociali come fattori di sostegno. L'analisi preliminare dei dati rileva l'importanza delle strategie di coping nella gestione della malattia.
