A Java 3D Talking Head for a Chatbot

2008

Facial animation is referred to all those systems per- forming the speech synchronization with an animated face model. This kind of systems are called ”Talking Head” or ”Talking Face”. In this paper a Talking Head oriented to the creation of a Chatbot is presented. It requires an in- put query and an answer is generated in form of text. The answer is transduced into a facial animation using a 3D face model whose lips movements are synchronized with the sound produced by a speech synthesis module. Our ”Talk- ing Head” explores the naturalness of the facial animation and provides a real-time interactive interface to the user. The WEB infrastructure has been realized using the Client- Server m…

Corti e lunghi circuiti politici. Il caso Nunzio Nasi

2017

This work aims to read the practices of modern politics in the conflict between the center and the periphery. The emergence of moments of conflict between the local political level and the national level allows us to observe the way of acting, the choices, the actions, the languages of the actors who move along these two dimensions. We will try to show that local situations are not exceptions to a general and abstract, universally valid and accepted norm, but more likely it is exceptional and should be considered only as an emergent effect of the irreducible multiplicity of local contexts.

Interactive multiobjective optimization system WWW-NIMBUS on the Internet

2000

Abstract NIMBUS is a multiobjective optimization method capable of solving nondifferentiable and nonconvex problems. We describe the NIMBUS algorithm and its implementation WWW-NIMBUS. To our knowledge WWW-NIMBUS is the first interactive multiobjective optimization system on the Internet. The main principles of its implementation are centralized computing and a distributed interface. Typically, the delivery and update of any software is problematic. Limited computer capacity may also be a problem. Via the Internet, there is only one version of the software to be updated and any client computer has the capabilities of a server computer. Further, the World-Wide Web (WWW) provides a graphical …

Psychometric properties of the interaction on supervised classes scale (ISCS)

2016

Effect of partner–agent model practice on microinsurance client value: Insight from microfinance institutions in Tanzania

2018

In absence of formal microinsurance to protect low-income people against natural and man-made disasters, the partnership between insurance companies and microfinance institutions (MFIs), also known as the Partner–Agent Model (PAM), is gaining global recognition from governments, practitioners, and donors for its potential role to deliver microinsurance. Although the model is still nascent in Tanzania, it has significantly increased microinsurance outreach. However, while the microinsurance landscape has been extensively studied, the effect of PAM practice on mandatory microinsurance client value has not received much attention. Therefore, this study examines how the PAM practice affects mic…

Simple methods for enhancing patient outcome in routine care: Measuring, monitoring, and feedback

2014

While highly effective, psychotherapy outcome studies suggest 5?14% of clients worsen while in treatment and that therapists are unable to identify a substantial portion of such cases. Methods to systematically track client mental health functioning over the course of treatment and adjust treatment through the use of problem-solving tools are described. We summarize meta-analyses of the effects of a feedback system indicating that the number of psychotherapy patients who deteriorate can be cut in half. We conclude with a series of practice implications, including that clinicians seriously consider making formal methods of collecting client feedback a routine part of their daily practice.

PATRONAGE E CLIENTELISMO: UNA RILETTURA

2015
