OBJECTIVE Previous attempts to group persistent somatic symptoms (PSS) with factor-analytic approaches have obtained heterogeneous results. An alternative approach that seems to be more suitable is the network theory. Compared to factor analysis, which focuses on the underlying factor of symptoms, network analysis focuses on the dynamic relationships and interactions among different symptoms. Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) is a powerful new technique that permits subsurface imaging at high resolution during ongoing endoscopy in the upper and lower GI tract [1]. Here, we will discuss future trends in CLE and their potential application in clinical practice. In particular, we will focus on molecular imaging using labelled antibodies for immunoendoscopy.
Challenges for Surgical Residents’ Practice-Based Learning

This chapter explores the practice-based learning of surgical residents. We concentrate on the challenges encountered and experienced by the residents during their clinical practice. In line with Billett (2010), we understand learning through practice as a process that arises through the exercise of occupational activities. For the surgical residents this means that they learn through participating in various kinds of hands-on surgical practices and interactions in clinical wards and units.
Future Perspectives in Nutraceutical Research

Nutraceuticals are largely used by general population. During the last decades, academicians and industries are intensifying the research of new bioactive compounds in order to improve the quality of life and to prevent disease in humans. The quality of the published research is however not always based on the rules of the Good Clinical Practice nor finalized to create a new Evidence-Based nutraceutical sciences. This chapter will resume some basic rules that we will expect to be applied to nutraceutical research in the next years.
