Abstract BACKGROUND: Treatment of intracranial aneurysms by Guglielmi detachable coil (GDC) embolization is a useful therapeutic alternative to surgery. This procedure is attractive as a minimally invasive approach to treat cerebral aneurysms; however, is not devoid of complications or failure and retreatment, with either a surgical or endovascular technique, may often be required. Background Anterior surgical approaches to the base of the brain have always required relatively large craniotomies, most larger than the lesion itself. Especially in aneurysm surgery, the size of the lesion is not always proportionate to the extent of brain exposure. Endoscopy in aneurysm surgery.

BACKGROUND: Surgical clipping with complete occlusion of the aneurysm and preservation of parent, branching, and perforating vessels remains the most definitive treatment for intracranial aneurysms. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the benefit of endoscopic application during microsurgical procedures in a retrospective study. METHODS: One hundred eighty aneurysms were microsurgically treated in 124 operations. Three different applications of endoscopic visualization were used, depending on the respective requirements: inspection before clipping, clipping under endoscopic view, and postclipping evaluation. Laparoscopic temporary clipping of uterine artery during laparoscopic myomectomy

Purpose: Our aim is to study the feasibility and effect of bilateral laparoscopic temporary occlusion of uterine arteries by special vascular clamps on blood loss during laparoscopic myomectomy. Methods: Of 166 women with symptomatic uterine myomas necessitating surgical intervention who wished to retain their uteri, 80 underwent laparoscopic uterine artery clipping and myomectomy (experimental group) and 86 received laparoscopic myomectomy only (control group). Effects of stubble height and cutting frequency on regrowth of berseem clover in a Mediterranean semiarid environment

Defoliation management of forage crops affects endogenous reserves (in the root and in the stubble), the residual leaf area, and, consequently, the regrowth and biomass yield. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of cutting frequency (28-d vs. 35-d intervals) and stubble height (3 vs. 6 cm) on forage yield, regrowth, and persistence of berseem clover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.). Neither cutting interval nor cutting height affected plant survival during the crop cycle. Frequent clipping reduced crop yield. 3D interactive model of lumbar spinal structures of anesthetic interest

A 3D model of lumbar structures of anesthetic interest was reconstructed from human magnetic resonance (MR) images and embedded in a Portable Document Format (PDF) file, which can be opened by freely available software and used offline. The MR images were analyzed using a specific 3D software platform for biomedical data. Models generated from manually delimited volumes of interest and selected MR images were exported to Virtual Reality Modeling Language format and were presented in a PDF document containing JavaScript-based functions.
