International audience; The paper analyses issues of legal classification during the Age of the Enlightenment by examining links between general structures and declared intentions in three major works of philosophic and legal lexicography: Diderot and d’Alembert’s Encyclopédie , De Felice’s Code de l’Humanité, and the Dictionnaire de Jurisprudence in the Encyclopédie méthodique. What consideration is given to natural law in encyclopaedic compilations? Do dictionaries and encyclopaedias play a part in the modern codification process?

A classical text from the ltalian legal literature of the first half of the eighteenth century, but little known outside Italy, the treaty De’ difetti della giurisprudenza (On the Defects of Jurisprudence, 1742) is the work of historian and philosopher Lodovico Antonio Muratori who was from Modena. Space counts! Brain correlates of spatial and numerical representations in synaesthesia

Over-learned semantic representations, such as numbers, are strongly associated with space in normal cognition, and in the phenomenon called number-space synaesthesia. In number-space synaesthesia, numbers are linked to spatial locations in an idiosyncratic way. Synaesthetes report numbers as belonging to a specific location, or feelings that a specific location is the right location for that number. What does really differentiate synaesthetes from non-synaesthetes with respect to their number-space representation?
