Maternal Competence, Maternal Burnout and Personality Traits in Italian Mothers after the First COVID-19 Lockdown

This study aimed to investigate the maternal sense of competence and maternal burnout in Italian mothers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The sample was composed of 278 mothers of children/adolescents aged 4 to 17 years old. Participants were recruited after the end of the first spring total Italian lockdown (June–October 2020) through online advertisements on websites and social media. We hypothesized a model in which a specific personality trait, such as neuroticism, affected maternal competence by the mediating role of maternal burnout. The aim of this paper is to review the latest data on the pharmacological modulation of asymmetric dimethylarginine in human disease. When the terminal nitrogens of the guanidine portion of an arginine become methylated through the action of N-methyl transferases, two chemically close, but physiologically different amino acids are synthesized: symmetric and asymmetric dimethylarginine. COVID-19 and periodontitis: reflecting on a possible association

AbstractRecent studies have demonstrated a relationship between the severe clinical course of COVID-19 and other chronic diseases such as: cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity and chronic renal disease. It may be possible to extend this association to a common and chronic oral disease in adults: periodontitis. Alternatively, the latter could be simply related to the systemic chronic diseases cited above, as already observed in the non-COVID-19 literature. Twenty consecutive patients with advanced breast cancer were treated with a combination of cyclophosphamide 600 mg/m2 i.v. on day 1, epidoxorubicin 75 mg/m2 on day 1, and 5-fluorouracil 375 mg/m2 i.v. with folinic acid 200 mg/m2 i.v. on days 1----3. The overall response rate was 60%, with 10% of patients showing a complete response with a mean duration of 11.1 + months, and 50% of patients a partial response of 7.4 + months. A stabilization of 5.2 + months was obtained in 20% of cases, while 20% of patients progressed. The most frequently observed toxicity was leukopenia, while expected mucosal toxicities were rather mild.
