By focusing on how this phenomenon works, we will attempt to shed light on how symbols work. The Fourth Gospel (FG) creates a tension between these two realms of perception and cognition. To reach beyond or above the earth we have to transcend time and space, our individual context and limited visual horizon. Suspended core tellurite glass optical fibers for infrared supercontinuum generation

International audience; We report the fabrication and characterization of tellurite TeO(2)-ZnO-Na(2)O (TZN) microstructured suspended core optical fibers (MOFs). These fibers are designed for infrared supercontinuum generation with zero dispersion wavelength (ZDW) at 1.451 mu m. The measured losses at this wavelength are approximately 6 dB/m for a MOF with a 2.2 mu m diameter core. The effective area of a particular fiber is 3.5 mu m(2) and the nonlinear coefficient is calculated to be 437 W(-1)km(-1). By pumping a 20 cm long fiber at 1.56 mu m with a sub-nj femtosecond laser source, we generate a supercontinuum (SC) spanning over 800 nm in the 1-2 mu m wavelength range.

Quantitative study of cardiac wall motion from cine-MRI using frequency-based optical flow methods

The aim of this thesis is to study parietal desynchronisation of the left ventricle from conventional cine-MRI. The first part of our work consisted in the quantification of the left ventricle wall motion of the heart directly from conventional retrospective SSFP type cine-MRI sequences used in the study of cardiac function. The developed methods for measuring displacements within the images are frequency-based optical flow methods. These techniques seem to be particularly adapted to MRI specificities. This essay examines the Ricoeurian idea of narrative identity, focusing on the ethical tension which characterizes this concept and which seems to reveal a teleological dynamism intimately marking the adventure of subjectivity. The implications of such telos – which is both a gift and a task – progressively emerge through the chapters of Ricoeur’s book Oneself as Another highlighting a selfhood capable of attestation facing the manifold dialectical game with otherness. With regard to the original sense of this challenging existential narrative, Ricouer – as this article points out – manifests an agnostic philosophical reserve, the meaning of which deserves special attention.

Pierre Mac Orlan is the witness of an age of crisis and of the emergence of a new sensibility. His writing is characterized by a formal and thematic ambiguity which has generated mistrust for his novels. The social fantastique that creates the unusual through objects and elements of modern cities offers an innovative approach to reality and a new poetics of the imaginary. Thus, through Ricoeur's theory on the imaginary, we will try to show that the ambiguity of Mac Orlan hides a new approach to the relationship between reality and imagination, between history and literature.
