ECG Analysis for Ventricular Fibrillation Detection Using a Boltzmann Network

Arrhythmias consist on electrical alterations in the heart beat control. They can be identified by means of surface ECG leads. The main goal of this work is to provide a signal classification based on ECG signal waveform in the time-frequency domain especially targeted to Ventricular Fibrillation detection. The use of a classifier based on a Boltzmann network is proposed. However, a previous signal preprocessing is also required so that the Boltzmann network is fed with the appropriate data. Stereoscopic Viewing Enhances Visually Induced Motion Sickness but Sound Does Not

Optic flow in visual displays or virtual environments often induces motion sickness (MS). We conducted two studies to analyze the effects of stereopsis, background sound, and realism (video vs. simulation) on the severity of MS and related feelings of immersion and vection. In Experiment 1, 79 participants watched either a 15-min-long video clip taken during a real roller coaster ride, or a precise simulation of the same ride. The role of the cardiovascular regulatory mechanism in patients with neuromediate syncope (NS) is poorly understood. The aim of this study was to accomplish continuous non-invasive analysis of the baroreflex mechanism in patients during a head-tip tilt-table test (HTT) using an open-loop autoregressive model with exogenous input. The model describes the causal dependence of the RR interval on the systolic arterial pressure (SAP) variability. The analysis of nonlinear couplings among cardiovascular variability series can improve the knowledge of the cardioregulatory mechanism and help to understand how it can be affected by pathologies. In this study, the influences of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) on the causal relationships between the heart period and the arterial pressure were investigated by a nonlinear dynamic approach based on the corrected cross-conditional entropy.
